Crescent Lake and Clan Chieftain ran third and an enhanced fourth at Sandown last night and therefore met the basic requirement of any each way selection. Unfortunately no joy at York. I was initially convinced that it was purely down to a low draw bias, and as we saw at The Curragh recently, when a draw bias is against you, especially unexpectedly and against a trend; it's tough and you have to take it on the chin. However, having watched the race a few times, I think it may have been as m... [Read More]

A nice win from Olivers Travels at Worcester to start proceedings yesterday, advised and widely available early at 8/1, it was well backedin to 4/1 and did look the most progressive horse in the field. A glimmer of form too in that race from Musical Slave which suggested as predicted that he could still do some damage once he finds a new level he can be competitive off and one to keep an eye on. Another to keep an eye on is Strangersontheshore who didn't miss an enhanced place by too far at big ... [Read More]

It's always good to see a hard grafter who is in the doldrums refind the form of which we know he's capable and the signs have been there for a few weeks, so great to see our Northern Expert fire in a 16/1 SP winner with Swinging Eddie and a 12/1 SP place with Redrosezorro at Catterick yesterday. We didn't have such good results at a foggy Wexford, and it's equally important to reflect on the fact that whilst our Irish Tipster have been in excellent form for a sustained period, that all Tipsters... A 4th (enhanced place) at Wolverhampton last night for Bay Of Naples in a race where I thought Assembled was never really put into the race with a chance. At Ballinrobe Ranger Billy beat all but the red hot Killashee and an enhanced place there too for True Or False.  There are Cards at Lingfield (not too much on offer), Leicester (small fields apert from a couple of 10 runner Sprints); Salisbury (small fields too apart from one Amatuer Jockey race) and Naas (some big field Sprint Hand... It was interesting to watch a few of the races we touched upon yesterday despite it being a "Non tip" day. Most interesting was the one Michael added to his TRACKER off one run over hurdles following a 4 year injury break, sods law that Rocky Blue went and won but if you ever needed more proof that these Irish guys have their eyes everywhere, that was surely it. Robert D'Ores and Intend showed enough for us to add them to the TRACKER too overnight. Of the existing TRACKERS noted yesterday, ... [Read More]

A nice runner up effort from Whatwouldyouknow at Redcar yesterday and probably a shade unlucky not to win at nice e/w odds, just seeing one catch it close home coming over the top. Crossing The Bar returned to some sort of form too for a place at Newton Abbot and hopefully will gain confidence from that run. A rare blank in Ireland for us at The Curragh, we were clearly "done by the draw" on the day with Low Numbers dominating. It can happen there and in that regard it's a bit like Asc... [Read More]

A couple of nice winners yesterday with Mistral Star, advised at 8/1, winning at 5/1 SP at Newmarket for The Advisor , part of the price drop due to Sea Of Roses being declared a non-runner. We also had On The River winning at 9/2 at Ripon, having been advised at 17/2 and another small step forwards with a winner for our Northern Expert, who seems to be regaining some of his past form and mojo. There were decent enough runs for Vingegaard at Newbury and Statuario at Market Rasen to pla... News Update - Sunday 21st July (New Tipster update / current Tipster form update)Published: 21/07/2024

New Tipster / Current Tipster Form- As some of you may be aware we have been proofing a number of prospective new Tipsters over the past 6 to 12 months and also reviewing and monitoring the disappointing recent form of our Northern and Jumps Tipsters. I am pleased to say that the recent form of both our Daily (NH Tipster) and Northern (primarily Flat Turf with some AW) Tipsters , has in the past 10 days shown early signs of an upturn to the kind of results we (a) know they ar... It wasn't looking like a great day yesterday with 2 poor tip race outcomes after a very strong week overall until the 7.27 at Down Royal. When you have a race decided "on the nod" it's always welcome that they are the 2 tips, so a win for Evenings Empire at 16/1 SP (advised 14's) over Vidisha at 10/1 SP (advised 16's) was most welcome. There is a top class Card at The Curragh today but with some rain and a lot of non-handicaps the opinion of Michael and Sean is to wait for tomorrow, when bo... A nice win for Carp Kid at 9/1 SP at Chepstow yesterday and a place at Worcester for No Way Pedro. The general form trends for The Advisor in particular are going in the right direction and a few recent winners for our National Hunt (DT) tips will hopefully add to confidence. We have a real conflict of weather probabilities coming over the weekend, very hot in the South and East initially, very wet stuff coming into Ireland and the West from later today, so we will keep a very close eye on that.... Having started the day with the frustration of 2 non runners at a very wet Uttoxeter we saw Cherry Cola and Beggarman run decent races at Bath with Cherry Cola placed and an excellent run by the highlighted Masterdream to finish a very close 2nd at 40/1 SP. We then had a runner up effort from Chatterbox in another race dominated by non-runners. A frustrating day therefore in terms of winners and non runners, but the Bath result vindicating the generally good for that some of the Tipsters are in.... [Read More]

No complaints about the run or effort from Expound at Killarney yesterday, he ran exactly as predicted and just failed to win. As long as the analysis is so accurate the winners and good placed runs will flow. It was a shame that Gunsight was a non runner, we'll keep an eye on him too. There is action at Bath; Ffos Llas, Thirsk and Yarmouth on the Flat today, Uttoxeter over the Jumps and Killarney in Ireland. We have tips and  analysis on 3 races at Bath; Killarney and Uttoxeter. [Read More]

A very nice win at Downpatrick in the sole tip race yesterday for Scottish Dancer who confirmed the promise of a good run there last time before falling when in contention. Scottish Dancer was advised at 14/1 , returned 17/2 and another excellent example of the excellent analysis that our Irish Tipsters can deliver. Unfortunately the prediction about Newton Abbot falling victim to the rain yesterday was proven correct, Beverley will inspect later today and with the same storm fron... Our new NH Tipster who had been in excellent form and was top rated Tipster on the independent Proofing Service we use for 1-3-6-12 months prior to replacing Robin for the Summer has been on a torrid run for the past 2 months but there was clear light at the end of the tunnel with a nice pair of winners and placed horses yesterday at both Stratford and Ayr. We'll be using him now that the Summer Jumping has returned from another short break. We won't be tipping at Newton Abbot how... [Read More]

No joy in the Bunbury Cup yesterday but it was a very tricky day as we suggested and whilst any day without winners or good priced placed horses is a complete failure, it could have been far worse had we dived in too deeply. From the sublime to the ridiculous today with just two NH Fixtures at Stratford On Avon and Perth, not venues we'd normally pick, but we have tip / analysis of a race at each looking for a bit of each way value. The suggestion (no more than that) is to keep staking... [Read More]

A welcome win for Hokusai in Ireland last night returning an SP of 14/1 and vindication for having the saver of one drawn low on a Track where extremes of the Draw can often occur and with a 33/1 shot finishing runner up from Stall 2, a nice "saver" from michael to have the nous to select Hokusai. Helm Rock ran well enough in defeat to suggest a win in possibly slightly easier company may not be far away. There is a feast of good racing today at Ascot, Newmarket and York, with evening Flat ... Thursday 11th July / Thoughts with John HuntPublished: 11/07/2024

A couple of placed efforts yesterday from Twilight Guest (in a race decimated by non runners) and Lord Tarranga on what was a quiet day racing wise. The Sport though has been rocked to the core by the tragic news about the loss of the wife and two daughters of the hugely respected John Hunt. John is one of those people who have served the sport with immense credit over many years, maybe not the most familiar face, but certainly one of the most familiar voices. He was on duty; race calling a... [Read More]

2 Year Olds - Feature Part 2 Published: 10/07/2024

CAROLYN - 2 Year Old update The few that I put up for consideration on Monday didn't really deliver what I had anticipated but are a good yard-stick for the patience needed with this sector.    We saw a glimpse of the possible rewards on offer with the 50/1 winner last week but as with all forms of betting they don't grow on trees and there is no magic wand. However we can begin to build a small but interesting stable of horses who we can follow and who I am convinced wi... [Read More]

Good Morning A lot of rain is forecast for Brighton, Pontefract and Uttoxeter areas today and with largely moderate fields in terms of quality and quantity the considered view is to take a day off. The AW Card at Lingfield is likely to be top of the market dominated and the Tramore Card is similarly sparse on numbers, unusual for Ireland. There is some decent Racing at Yarmouth and Fairyhouse tomorrow, Newmarket and Newbury on Thursday and Newmarket, Ascot and York on Friday and into t... A smattering of places yesterday but we couldn't quite find a winner. There is a good NH Card at Worcester today and we have a few selections from there with some nice competitive fields on genuinely good ground. Roscommon has a similar sort of Card and we've tips from a Handicap Hurdle there too. There are interesting 2 year old races too, specifically at Ayr and Windsor, and some pointers and a tip from Carolyn at both venues. Carolyn will be back with a new and quite detailed articl... Another complete calamity at Haydock Park yesterday robbed us of a potentially exciting Old Newton Cup. Whilst the safety of horses and jockeys is paramount and always should be, the overall management of this Course for years has been a disaster. There have been other Tracks (Nottingham and Thirsk spring to mind), where there are tight left hand bends into a long straight where issues have been resolved by reconfiguring the bends or the rails to alleviate the issues. Haydock is unusua... [Read More]

A few decent place runs yesterday from William Ewart and Eastern Wind and KIng Sharla, who just missed out on a place, showed clear signs that it's turn is not far away and one we will definitely continue to track forwards. The main Cardstoday are at Sandown and Haydock, both have rain forecasts and we've taken that into account with selections. There is a very competitive Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown, where Michael has a couple of contrarian big priced suggestions for small stakes and so... [Read More]

A decent enough effort from Hinemoa at Tipperary last night but the result of the race at Epsom was a real head-scratcher with one of those winners and runners up, that frankly on form, were impossible to figure. Having said that, some would say the same about some of our big priced winners on occasions, so you have to doff your cap to connections and anyone who was invested in the horse and had a nice win. There is a lot of Racing today, sadly, as usual the main issue at Haydock is th... Avery nice win for Avec Espoir atTipperary yesterday, made all and won by 18 lengths at 16/1 SP having been advised at 10/1, with Favouri Logique picking up the enhanced place it was pretty much the perfect result. The 2 year old Oncebittentwiceshy on its racecourse debut could not follow up the success of monday, it broke well but ran very "green" and was given a tender time by Luke Morris after that. Thank you for the generally positive feedback about the mail and message sent yesterday, the fact that one of the horses highlighted in the article won at 50/1 SP is not the issue, it's nice in that it was an early example of the possibility that the logic and expertise may pay nice dividends, no more than that.  Punting is all about having profitable angles more often than not and knowing when to dip in and out of them. A surprise winner at The Curragh yesterday in terms of the Draw bias you'd normally expect, that left BIG GOSSEY a bit exposed on the Stands side and in the circumstances it wasn't a bad run. An excellent effort though from GREEK FLOWER to finish 2nd at 22/1 SP. Streets of Doyen finished 5th and out of the places at Uttoxeter where sadly Kinondu Kwetu, who looked a great prospect early last Jumps season again lost all confidence after some poor jumping. There is AW at Wolverhampton tod... A disappointing result in Ireland last night and not up to expectations. There are 6 Meetings in the UK today, all on the Flat and one in Ireland at The Curragh. With some rain due over there and relatively small fields by Irish standards we'll abstain in Ireland today. The UK Meetings are headed by the AW Fixture at Newcastle where the principal race is The Northumberland Plate at 3.10pm. The other 5 UK Meetings though have alarmingly small fields, no doubt due to the prevalent G... [Read More]

A nice 1-2 with Darkness at 15/2 SP and Waiting All Night at 14/1 SP broke a very poor run during the past week.
