It was frustrating to lose a tip (Dereham) as a late non runner at Chester yesterday just as we were mailing out, we note that one has a declaration later in the week though, so one we'll keep an eye on. A pair of well fancied non runners at Ballinrobe too, but hopefully that meant you had a bit more than the suggested quid each way on Fr Gilliagansvoyage who was a runner up at a juicy 50/1 having been noted at 66/1. There is some cracking Flat action at Doncaster and Leopardstown today, sa... Friday 13th, so all be careful out there!. Triskaidekaphobia is the actual name, and a decent Class 6 horse for Derek Shaw on the AW a fair while ago now! A decent 3rd for Xiomara at 7/1 at Doncaster yesterday, advised at 9/1 and a decent 5th place just missing the enhanced place run from Soowaih who returned a 28/1 SP!. The pair at Newcastle finished 7th and 8th and on this occasion never really figured. There are Cards at Sandown and Salisbury today with no really obvious races ... [Read More]

It's the case unfortunately that when you get the draw bias wrong in any Sprint race it's very difficult to find the winner / placed horses and for whatever reason, the usual draw bias at Carlisle yesterday when "soft" is in the Going description, was turned on its head. No excuses, we got it wrong on this occasion after a spell where more often than not we have got it spot on. No joy at Worcester with a couple of pokes from Robin, early pace did for Presenting Nelly, who went out too quick... A repeat of Monday really with a disappointing run to start from Magical Dragon at Lingfield and then a similar outcome at Newcastle, saved if you had the suggested poke on a 40/1 SP shot who claimed the enhanced 4th place (Retirement Beckons) and who as predicted may have finished a place higher but for some trouble in running. The Mile Straight at Newcastle is a potential money pit with such types and an angle we will continue to try to optimise over the winter months. Nothing conclu... [Read More]

A rare very poor day in Ireland yesterday for both of our Irish experts, although if you were on Danesfort Mayfly at the advised 66/1 (available with 4 major bookies) to widely available 5th place, you will have mitigated most of the losses elsewhere, and proportionately so at prices down to the 25/1 SP. There is another Flat Card at Galway today but we'll give that one a swerve in the tacky soft Going. There are moderate Cards with not too many to entice us in on the Flat Turf at Catterick... [Read More]

A very nice win for Northern Spirit yesterday at York backed in from 16/1 to 17/2 and hopefully you were on at a price considerably higher than SP. A very nice 33/1 into 28/1 SP third place finish for Abate in the same race. Our Northern Expert has done very well generally the past few months and certainly at York, where the Sprint handicaps can be a massive conundrum. A nice 12/1 SP win too for the Tracker Horse Miss Ireland at Fontwell, was readily available at higher prices earlier and m... [Read More]

We'll have a longer look at Saturday's results tomorrow but a win for Epic Poet was backed up by places for Poniros and Slieve Bearnagh and enhanced places at nice e/w Odds for Bebside in the Nursery Handicap and Comfort Line over in Ireland. Sadly we drew a blank in the big Haydock Sprint in a race won by a classic "cliff horse" who has suddenly found some consistency and for a Yard who seem to be emerging from a very tricky mid season spell. There are just the 2 Meetings today at York and... A placed / enhanced placed horse in each of the 4 tip races yesterday but frankly only Furzig could be considered an unlucky loser I feel, we found some solid places but on the day a winner proved elusive. The Trackers delivered a couple of winners including a 12/1 SP. There are plenty of decent Handicaps to attack today at Ascot; Haydock; Navan, and Thirsk. We looked hard at Stratford over the Jumps but it looks like a market leader dominated sort of Card and with good options elsewhere we... [Read More]

We couldn't find a winner yesterday on a rain affected day, so we'll hope to return to the Winners Enclosure today. Mostly Sprints and nothing really standing out overall at a soggy Ascot today, Bangor has a very competitive NH Card but never really our best venue, so we'll hold Robin back for his return over the next few days, nothing on the AW at Kempton to note. We'll go to Haydock for a couple of competitive Handicaps, they have avoided the rain and look set for genuinely and accur... A disappointing return at Hamilton yesterday and the speculative poke at Kilbeggan failed to spark, but we'll watch John Storey going forwards with interest. The highlight though was very much at Bath with Bond Spirit running an enhanced place at `14/1 SP and Endofstorm winning at an eye catching 40/1 SP having been advised at 33/1. A second successive big priced winner for RJ and the result of a slight tweak to his analysis. A lot of rain in the South and West today means we'll l... [Read More]

A trio of winners from the three races yesterday highlighted by a first win for RJ with Pink Lily advised at 25/1 winning at an SP of 16/1 as several shrewd Tipsters followed us in having also seen the very strong form credentials. September Leaves was advised at 15/2, I'm not at all sure where the support for that one came down to 2/1 late on, but happy days if you were on at the early price. Mr Heinz came with a sustained and confident run down the middle of the Course at Newcastle to win at 6... [Read More]

Whilst the Meeting at Chepstow is short on numbers and the Southwell AW Meeting holds little interest, there are some competitive handicaps today at Goodwood, Gowran Park and at Newcastle on the AW. Our Tipsters seem to have found a few at very nice e/w prices whose form analysis suggests they are overpriced, and on such days we won't hide from taking the speculative approach. The first day in terms of the meteorological calendar of Autumn and with it we'll start to see a lot less Good to Firm Going and more Good and Good to Soft. There is still a lot to look forwards to in terms of emerging 2 year olds and 2 year old nurseries, a lot of big Flat Handicaps and a steady increase in the number of Jump meetings, although after a dryish August in most parts, I doubt we'll see the bigger NH yards really flexing their muscles for another 6 weeks or so. After a bel... A nice 10/1 SP win (advised 16/1) for Dinoland, who maintained our increasingly good form at Down Royal for Sean last night. A degree of the frustration felt over the past few days, again evident though at Wexford, where Stormy Master, the clearly identified 5th rated but NOT a tip, (who would have been a tip if we'd known the 4th rated Agirlcalledchloe was going to be a non runner) won at 22/1 having been widely available at 40/1, a bit of a moral victory in terms of more solid analysis, but no... A big frustration that for the second day running we discarded a 14/1 winner from the final list of likely winners on the basis it was a few pounds higher than we thought ideal, there are fine margins between winning and losing and the wins of Hidden Pearl on Wednesday and Molly Hall yesterday emphasise that. If you were on Red Secret who placed at double figures odds and took the 6th place option recommended with Bet 365 about Whispering Hopes (advised 40/1 returned 28/1) you will have had some... A bit of frustration from our Northern Expert yesterday that having identified the soft ground form of Hidden Pearl, who went on to win at double figure Odds, he over emphasised the handicap mark with the selections not delivering as expected. A solid place run and a near miss followed at Worcester over the jumps. There are small fields at the Fixtures at Carlisle and Ffos Llas on soft Going, a couple of AW Fixtures at Chelmsford and Southwell, but some competitive and decent options o... A place and an enhanced place for us at Bellewstown in a rather messy race last night that ended up in the Stewards room followed a disappointing outcome to the earlier tip race at Stratford. With nothing really standing out in Ireland today nor at Musselburgh and some bookie fodder AW at Kempton, we'll seek some profit in a Handicap at Catterick where the Good to Soft may turn a bit softer with regular showers forecast and over the sticks in a handicap hurdle at Worcester, where the t... A nice win from the ell backed Valkyrian at Chepstow yesterday for the in form Advisor, in hindsight Sean would probably have stuck with just his very confident assessment that I Am Rocco was far away the best bet at Ballinrobe to optimise an excellent 25/1 SP runner up effort. No joy at Ripon though where the market got the pace horses right on this occasion. There are smallish fields on the Flta Turf today at Musselburgh and Ripon, an AW Card at Lingfield and NH at Stratford with Flat Rac... The final Bank Holiday until Christmas (I've always thought we needed one the last Monday in October to coincide with 1/2 term as 15-16 weeks is a long old haul), and a decent set of fixtures on both sides of the Irish Sea. Some rain has just taken the edge off the good to Firm at most venues and we'll go to a Series Final (so we know they are all here to win) at Chepstow, a decent Class 2 Handicap at Ripon and our irish boys are back refreshed and ready to go with a Handicap Hurdle at... Good Morning; With The Equator, Oneforthegutter, Dual Identity and Chasing Aphrodite all delivering very good placed efforts at nice e/w prices in the 3 selected Handicaps at York it wasn't a bad day yesterday, just a little frustrating one of them couldn't go a step further and give us another winner. Miss Collada ran a nice place too at Newmarket. Our new RJ Tipster has had a tough start at York with not a lot of luck either yesterday at Goodwood. It's early days and a transition to speci... Treasure Time was a last race rescue winner for us yesterday and kept up the excellent recent form for The Advisor. In the other races Euchan Glen put up his usual sterling effort to finish 5th just out of the places for our northern expert, Believing who finished like the proverbial steam train for RJ went closest of his 3 selections as he tries to find that elusive first winner and the slightly unexpected good to firm Going (track dried very quickly in very blustery winds) meant that our 2 yea... We could not manage to find the winners like we did on Wednesday on Day 2 at York yesterday but left with some nice places and a degree of frustration. Holloway Boy and James McHenry finished 3rd and 4th in The Clipper but there was obvious frustration that the 1-2 Thunder Run and Mirsky were TRACKER horses. Thunder Run we'd discarded on the basis that 3 year olds didn't have a great record in the race, Mirsky is one of a handful of French imports to the O'Meara yard we've tracked sinc... [Read More]

It is always tough to find big field handicap winners anyway and especially so at York so to find the winner of each of the three handicaps we attacked yesterday with JmJungle at 10/1 from our Northern expert, Extensio at 14/1 from The Advisor and Yes I'm Mali at 12/1 from Carolyn our 2 year old expert, all of those prices being SP must rank as a decent day at the very least. The first day of the York Ebor Meeting which looks likely to avoid any rain until after Racing tomorrow, so we will take the forecast Good to Firm as York has probably the best Going Reporting Clerks in the whole of the UK. As we announced yesterday our new "Racing Journalist" tipster will start in earnest today, for ease of clarity let's call him RJ from now on. A nice win for She's A Novelty at 7/2 started the day off well for us yesterday, Sameem was a non runner in that race and the same fate fell to the e/w selection in the other tip race with Prince De Juilley also a non runner, which was very frustrating. The suggested win tip at Worcester, Townhill, never really went a yard and was noted as sweating up in preliminaries and did drift late on in the market.  Today we have small fields on the Flat Turf at Brighton and Nottingham on Go... Two Year Old expert - August UpdatePublished: 20/08/2024

2 Year Old Update Since our flying start at the beginning of July it has been a frustrating time for me with nothing like the number of races attacked as I had planned. Some of that was due to some personal domestic issues which necessitated me spending a couple of weeks managing a large Livery Yard day to day due to some sad circumstances affecting a very close group of family friends. Whilst the family are now back managing things day to day, their daughters health issues will b... [Read More]

Well it was AW Racing and it was Southwell, but I don't think I've ever seen such a strange start to a race (unless stalls malfunction which clearly they did not) as the tip race yesterday. All that was missing was the "Condor moment" TV Advert from the 1970's. Three horses all drawn low missed the start for no logical reason, including our two selections , one of whom is usually a very sharp starter. Frustrating but we move on. There are 4 Fixtures today at Catterick; Windsor, Worcester an... [Read More]

A nice win for Dare To Hope advised at 13/2 who returned at 9/2 in the big Sprint at Ripon. A decent effort by The Turpinator at 25/1 on the unfavoured far side to finish 6th, just missing the enhanced place generally available by a neck (Sky + William Hill would have paid the place).  Unfortunately no joy at Perth over the Jumps nor with the 2 year old runner at Newbury, but the Trackers, of which we haven't had too many running lately, had a decent day with 2 wins and ...
