Cartmel 3.08 - Mares Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 6 furlongs - 14 run - Good to Soft
I thought that 4 of this 14 runner field were worth very close inspection and narrowly discarded All Under Control (my 3rd rated and a handy backup if a tip is a non runner ) as I think that this Course will suit her and the drop back in trip may eek out some progress. I also noted Killybegs Jet Lady as my 4th rated, a very consistent performer who just needs a bit of help from the handicapper.
SHANTOU SUNSET is no stranger around here and has won in far better company in the past;and performed well enough in deeper company in the more recent past. SEVENTY EIGHT TEAM comes over from Ireland for the Gilligans and is unexposed but has shown glimmers of decent ability and I very much doubt they would be coming here if they did not think they had a well handicapped young horse capable of taking home some prize money and possibly enhancing her value in the process.(Robin)

Doncaster 3.55 - Handicap Class 5 - 7 furlongs - 13 run - Good
There aren't too many pace angles in here and there are a host of hold up performers, so I have sought to find one who likes to get on with it and hopefully the best of those who like to arrive late on the scene.
I rated Emily Post at 22/1 as my third best in here as this Mare might just be running into some form so I will TRACK her too. Novello Lad has a decent Course record and should run a decent race too from the back.
My 1-2 though are DANZART who can get on with it and might have a decent chance of making the pace and holding on for a long way, any scrimmaging in behind could well see him repeat a Course and Distance win in the past and a step back up from 6 furlongs is a positive too. CLASSY CLARETS has moved yards and retain plenty of ability , a 3lbs penalty should mean that the mark is still competitive enough to allow a strong run. (Northern)

Newcastle 4.45 - Handicap - Class 6 - - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 12 run - Standard
A competitive 12 runner race over 10 furlongs and plenty seriously considered including , Made All who is hard to leave out in current form, Mrs Meader who has form claims but a jockey who we don't frankly know much about and Solar Bentley, our 3rd best rated (reserve if a tip is a non runner) whose price may reced if Ellison again has a decent day here.
My top 2 rated though are STAR START for Ruth Carr ; a Distance winner who drops back in trip and who should be now be really race fit, the jockey riding today won on the horse off exactly this mark last August and it just feels like this is a golden opportunity to repeat that feat today. EVA ROSIE has good Course and Distance form and likes Tapeta and with a 5lbs Claimer up, the mark is certainly within past "win and place" range (AW)
