NORTHERN - York Ebor Handicap - Class 2 - 1 mile 6 Furlongs - 22 run - Good to Firm / Good - likely significant rain.
It's hard not to have one eye on the weather so I've got two eyes on the weather and the aforementioned comments about the Going yesterday.
It's impossible NOT to back Sweet William at around 7/2 - so I strongly suggest a 1 point win bet saver on it. If you have that bet on SWEET WILLIAM I don't think you then cannot have a 1 point each way bet on ADJUVANT who receives 4lbs for a defeat of a couple of lengths at Goodwood, I think that whilst the distance flatters ADJUVANT that the form line is pretty strong and impossible to ignore.
I'm just not convinced about the pair of Mullins runners, they are clearly talented but at the prices they certainly make ADJUVANT look cracking e/w value. Real Dream has untapped potential but needs to find some more, Scriptwriter is clearly progressive too and has a good e/w shout and at bigger prices I looked long and hard at Cemhaan who ran very well at Royal Ascot and POST IMPRESSIONIST who improved rapidly last Autumn and who has been very quiet so far and POST IMPRESSIONIST is well worth one of those £1 e/w bets at the early odds.
To join SWEET WILLIAM and ADJUVANT, with some Bookies going to 6-8 places, I'll have 1/2 point e/w on GET SHIRTY who is another who had a stellar 2022 and who has understandably struggled a bit off an inflated handicap mark, its shown very little so far but down to a mark of 101 and with the rain about I have something more than a hunch that a vastly improved run is due and if not today, then as it drops below 100 should be TRACKED in to the Autumn races. The other one who catches my eye as an each way banker is the Godolphin horse LIVE YOUR DREAM who has some very solid form and who is another who won't mind any rain and on balance a very strong chance of finishing in the first 5-6.
At very BIG odds too, a shrapnel bet on BERKSHIRE ROCCO who has proven stamina for further and in soft conditions and who would come more and more into the equation if the Going got far more attritional.
