York 2.45 GEORGE BOWEN / INTISAAB / SOLDIERS MINUTE - all 1 point e/w

A typically competitive York Sprint over 6 Furlongs Class 2 with 20 runners, Going is Good to Firm, they rarely allow it to get Firm here so likely to be as advertised.

 

They tend to run in to the centre of the Course here, a lot of that has to do with the "eye-line" as the finish funnels subtely left handed in the Closing stages and markedly so as they pull up. A lot of the pace is low to middle and I think that is where the action will be.

 

Narrowed 20 down to 7 most likely and will leave out FLYING PURSUIT who is likely pace angle, will enjoy the trip but would definitely want a bit more cut in the ground. SAVALAS is at home over Course and Distance on Good to Firm and runs off a nice mark but i don't think great value in the race and one to fear but not quite on my final tip list today. WENTWORTH FALLS is a classic hold up horse, will need the breaks and a huge danger if getting them but just a feeling that a wall of horse will stop a late withering run at some point. I could easily have picked those 3 on another day and a win for any would not surprise.

 

I like LAKE VOLTA a lot and if there was a non runner he would be my reserve, prominent running style and solid form but just a niggle about this track. I have no Course Distance or Going selections about the 3 against the field, GEORGE BOWEN finally gets his conditions, mark has fallen after some average runs in non ideal conditions, draw in stall 8 looks ideal and will be one that fires sooner or later and I'm banking on today. INTISAAB is another who has been moderate so far this season but valid excuses having wintered in Dubai and possibly taken a while to re-acclimatise, ticks every box and on a very nice mark too, finally we have SOLDIERS MINUTE another with everything going for him today and just needs luck in running and will have been primed by the Yard for the day.
