The likes of Magical Mile, Diamond Haze, Just Hiss, Irv and End Zone would all have strong claims on Good Going and in fact I'd probably swerve the race as its so tough to call.

 

Heavy rain though changes the dynamic and gives us a stand out horse IF it goes softer, LITTLE JO has won and been runner up over Course and Distance including on Soft, rain is a plus and the last soft going win mark of 74 suggests 71 here is very competitive.

 

MUTANAASEQ is another one with solid form who won't mind the rain, the trip is in range and I think it'll run well.

 

Very intriguing is Mick Easterby's ALSITHEE who has been running over 1/2 mile further, occasionally running very freely and fading badly. The pedigree suggests its a 10-12 furlong horse but there is some mile speed on the dams side. I can see the logic of trying a mile, giving it its head and seeing what happens. It has an ability that just needs to be harnessed and is one to have a couple of quid on like Dirchill as stranger things have happened and old Mick wrote half the tricks in the book decades ago!
