Thirsk 4.15
By UK Flat / AW (Northern)
YORKSHIRE / AW - Thirsk 4.15 - The Thirsk Hunt Cup is a sought after and competitive 1 mile handicap and can often be decided by the draw. The long straight and sharp turns can cause all sorts of traffic problems and conventional wisdom is to look for a prominent runner drawn low. Bearing that in mind hard to look past WAARIF drawn in stall 1 for David O'Meara. Has good Course form and shot up the Handicap last season, proved competitive at this increased mark and 2 runs will have it both spot on fitness wise and also seen mark drop below 3 figures and at 97 with a 3 pound Claimer up, looks like a target for shrewd Trainer.
If low is an advantage, it can also be cute to be ridden tactically from a high draw and coming with a withering run "over the top" and drawn in stall 16 is the Kevin Ryan trained COMMANDER HAN who should appreciate a return to this trip, should be at peak as a 4 year old and who has had a nice prep run and off a good mark.
I would see BORODIN as the one to beat at restrictive Odds IF you want a win saver and Dawaaleeb as a danger and likely Tricast Perm horse for those who like a few Tricast lines in these Saturday Handicaps.
