Thirsk 3.20

Thirsk 3.20 Class 5 - Handicap - 7 furlongs - 16 run - Good to Firm
A competitive Class 5 race over 7 furlongs here that takes a bit of getting and with the left hand bend whose cambers can catch a few out and get them changing legs.
The fly in the ointment and one who could be anything is Richard Fahey's 3 year old BRAZEN PRINCE. This will be a second handicap run off a break and if fit enough on seasonal debut could spring something of a surprise. It's an intriguing entry really and for that reason I'll have a small interest.
Nordic Fire has solid claims and Medecine Jack should set a pace for them to all aim at but as much as I fear this one I think it barely gets this trip on Turf and could set the race up for a closer. It's a good Tricast horse though if you want that angle with the Fahey horse and the tip.
The Tip is Ruth Carrs horse MAGICAL EFFECT, this one steps back to 7 furlongs which I think is its best trip, back in to a Class 5 which feels the right grade and it has a Course and Distance win off a mark of 73. Provided the ground is not too jarring, although it has won on Good to Firm, the mark of 70 looks ideal and I can find no reason why it won't run a big race at nice odds.
TIP - Magical Effect / Tracker - Brazen Prince (Tricast Horse and reserve - Medecine Jack)
