Thirsk 2.00 Class 6 Handicap - 19 run - Good to Firm (cloudy possibly a few spits of rain)

 

This is Class 6 so anything can happen but the top 3 in the market Manumission / NAUGHTY ANNA and Red Bravo look pretty solid.

 

Of the 3; I most like the chances of Tim Easterbys NAUGHTY ANNA who has some decent course form, is solid and consistent in the grade, gets the assistance of David Allen and a decent enough Draw too.

 

A few catch the eye; and it would be no surprise to see the likes of Cobra Eye (who won a Class 2 race as a juvenile); Racy Stacey who runs prominently and for whom this drop in trip might just be the key and Twelve Diamonds outrun Odds and show some improved form.

 

At very nice e/w Odds though and high Draws I prefer the chances of ALEX GRACIE and FRENCH RED, particularly French Red.

 

ALEX GRACIE won this last year at big odds, that win was off a mark of 53, then placed off a mark of 56 and has slowly worked its way down to 52 and gets a decent 5lbs Claim today too. Back at Thirsk will lightning strike twice, it can often do and this one has a sporting chance.

 

I really am drawn though to FRENCH RED, drawn in Stall 17, should get a tow up the rail and a pace to aim at. Twice runner up off a mark of 45 in the Spring but then upped to 7 furlongs and doesn't quite seem to get that trip. Back off  mark of 46 and returning to 6 furlongs is very appealing at the odds and with enhanced places on offer.
