Saturday 28th August (Beverley + Redcar)

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

Northern Expert -:

Beverley 5.30 Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 16 run

A competitive race to close the Card and one where jockeyship will play a part with a fair mix of more experienced and less experienced apprentices, some of whom will have more racecraft than others.

I narrowed my final list down to 4 and will keep a close eye on Highland Reel who has won over Course and Distance already this season and who is just 1lb above that mark, has tended to run too freely on occasions and in a field where some could start off too fast that is a niggle. He'll be a handy reserve and should be backed if either selection is a non runner and possibly as a Tricast Perm in the big field.

Kodimoor is also of minor interest stepping up to 10 furlongs as an 8 year olf may be a last throw of the dice but runs off a nice mark and it will be interesting to watch how he gets on.

I can't resist a Tip on BITE YA LEGS. Gets the prime Draw on the inside, Ella McCain is very capable and with Course and Distance experience and form and a prominent running style I think it will be in contention throughout and be the one they all have to beat.

I'll have a Tracker bet on the far less exposed CAPLA LASS who could find some improvement in headgear and this looks its most interesting opportunity yet.

TIP - Bite Ya Legs / Tracker - Capla Lass (Reserve Highland Reel)

Redcar 6.45 - Handicap - Class 5 - 6 furlongs - 13 run

A race in which a pair who are burning a hole in my TRACKING list jump off the page a bit in this company.

ATHOLLBLAIR BOY has won on the AW off a mark of 71 and placed on Turf off higher marks in the mid 70's. It's on my AW Tracker but perfectly solid on Good to Firm Turf and has probably delivered its best Turf runs here. Off a mark of 73 it just needs things to click to have an excellent chance.

At bigger Odds is GULLANE ONE, very inconsistent as it'll have a good run then a bad one and then slip back to form. It has won just a few weeks back off a mark of 57, but has prior winning form in mid 60's and plenty of ability remains. it's interesting here off a mark of 60 and seems to have been overlooked completely by the market and at big odds I can't resist a nibble.
