Ripon 2.33

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Ripon 2.33 Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 14 run - Going Good

The top end of the market looks strong here with O'Meara's City Vaults a very short price and one I'm quite keen to take on after its last run, a reverse Forecast on the next pair in the market, PERIPETALA and MAKE A PROPHET may be the way to go as I think both can beat the favourite. Bearwith is solid in the context of the race but not really attractive at the price as an each way proposition. Milltown Lily too is capable of placing but again the skinny odds don't really entice me in for an each way punt.

Mr Heinz and Cloch Nua have their best days ahead of them surely and both may find more for this step up in trip, it'll be interesting to see how they fare here. Mr Sundowner and Gloryella at the other end of the market can both throw in the very occasional decent run but there are a pair I think are each way value at backable e/w prices.

If SAULIRE STAR who ran very freely at Beverley on Saturday makes a quick reappearance I'd be keen on a small investment, that run may just have taken some fizz out of the horse but with a Course win here over 12 furlongs earlier in the season off this mark of 51 I think it can run a big race IF turning out again.

SEVEN FOR A POUND won this race last year at 25/1 off a mark of 45, it's also won over Course and Distance off a mark of 46 and with Luke Morris riding for Ruth Carr it's certainly worth a small investment at a track not all horses get on with but which this  horse clearly thrives.
