NORTHERN - Redcar 5.35 - Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 6 furlongs - 12 run - Good
At the top end of the market we have the likes of Michaels Pledge who is a well bred 3 year old who has shown some promise but no more than that on handicap debut here, A Day to Dream who is frankly a solid plodder but not great win value. Cinco Saltos is also too short for what it's achieved in my opinion and I'd also discard Cracked Up who makes handicap debut upped 4 furlongs although it has shown some promise and Funky Town Pinkie who may be better on the AW.
That takes us quite a way down the early Betting market into value e/w territory. I reluctantly leave out Spantik, that one played up in the Stalls last time so the run can be ignored but it just missed out to a few others so can be held as a crafty reserve should we have a non runner.
The one who I am most confident about at a nice e/w price currently is DESERT QUEST , this one has "flushes of form" and has hit those spells in August last year and in 2021 with wins between 50 and 53 in 2021 and 54 and 58 last season. It's back to a mark of 58 and that August form is compelling!
At bigger Odds both TIGER SPIRIT a Course winner at 2 miles off a mark of 56 in April 2022 who is mostly kept to AW Now but who has won on Good to Soft turf and VISITANT who is actually very competitive and consistent off a basement mark and who has a decent place record and who may nick a place staying on, are well worth a small e/w dabble on a quiet day.
