Northern - Sedgefield 2.07

 

This is a tight little race on likely "dead ground" and the trip may catch quite a few out so I'm hunting for genuine proof of stamina.

 

TANORA is in every regard the one they all have to beat and even in the 5/2 to 3/1 range I think is good value and on this occasion I will strongly recommend a win saver bet, sometimes you can't deny the blindingly obvious.

 

Keeper Chris ran better at 3 miles last time so has to be feared, All Star Bert is up 4 pounds and 4 furlongs for a win at Uttoxeter on New Years Eve and Late Date is up 5lbs for a 40/1 win (when mentioned by us in dispatches) on New Years Day, I don't think the extended 3-4 furlongs at the likely odds adds to any value for either.

 

Akentrik is of interest mainly due to the prolific Trainer and I'd give a sporting chance to Event Of Sivola who goes Hurdling after a long spell over fences but who could be very well handicapped if taking to it and that's a niggling doubt and danger to my selections and also to Fame and Hope, who I think will enjoy the longer trip but whose Trainer has previously suggested hates pudding ground and prefers proper soft Going. At very big odds Lady Vinetta is not a no-hoper either. Fame And Hope is definitely one to keep an eye on when the proper rains come.

 

My pair though to back up TANORA are GET AN OSCAR who will surely enjoy the extended trip, has shown it likes this type of Going, is incredibly well handicapped, albeit as it's been out of form but with Sean riding for its dad, cant have any excuses today.

 

I also think the Going, trip and stamina concerns about so many play perfectly in to the hands of the old time MOIDORE to plug on and on in to a distant place at rewarding Odds.
