Newcastle 3.20

Northern - Newcastle 3.20 Mares Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 7 and 1/2 furlongs - 11 run - Good (bit of rain possible)

 

At the top of the market we have Lone Star who comes back out 2 days after a win over 2 and a half miles, upped in trip but unpenalised and Aazza who gets a 13 lbs rise for a win at Doncaster last time. Both Mares are clearly in good nick and always worth following these ladies when they are in form but at prices lower than 4/1 I won't lose any sleep about taking them on and will have a small reverse forecast to cover them off my books.

 

I'm going to by-pass Atomic Angel too even though she was a very impressive winner for me in early January when everything seemed to be running well for me and us in general, she was placed 4th next time off an enhanced mark of 89 here and I just thought a couple had slightly better chances but if either didn't run she'd be a show-in as a replacement.

 

On We Go will be a danger with form figures of 1-2-1-1-5-F-1 but the massive weight just puts me off today as it's a lot to carry round 3 miles here, Fiadh is of interest more on the jockey booking than actual form with stamina to prove but anything hughes rides at this sort of price merits a look. Howzat Hiris is in the Tracker System and has had a few decent runs off a basement mark and the sort who might nick an enhanced place if everything fell perfectly but that's not happening for us at the moment so I'll leave it alone today but not one to discount in the future.

 

Another horse in the Tracker System is JUST JESS who won for me on New Years Day over slightly further off a mark of 86, I think the firmer ground at Doncaster may not have suited as well, it ran very dead ground that day and off a mark of 90 here I think it has more than a sporting each way chance. The other one who deserves to win a race after some consistent form is SHESUPINCOURT who disappointed at the very different Fakenham Course last time but prior to that was running very consistently with form figures of 2-2-2 and Bangor and Ffos Llas and if repeating those runs off marks between 75 and 79 would have an excellent chance off a mark of 80 with a 7lbs Claimer up.
