NORTHERN - Newcastle 2.08 EIDER Handicap Chase - 4 miles 1 amd 1/2 furlongs - 12 run - Heavy
FLOWER OF SCOTLAND has only had one run so far this season and has been well backed but it's not hard to see why and I suspect he has 2 main targets this season, this being one of them. The Trainer is an expert at getting horses fit on the gallops and he won't lack conditioning.
A couple at bigger prices look very well suited, RATH AN IUIR has had 2 tries at this, finishing 5th and 6th and within 20 lengths of the winner so the trip is not a concern for me, it'll love the mud and a low weight and I think very solid staying on (may be better described as plodding on) place material. PRINCE DES FICHAUX is closely linked to Fenland Tiger in terms of form but three times the price and actually looks an out and out stayer in the making as usually staying on steadily in races at over 3 miles and well worth an each way punt at the prices.
