Musselburgh Friday 25th March Finals Day
By UK Flat / AW (Northern)
NORTHERN-:
It's a good Card at Musselburgh but the Fixture with the 3 Finals can turn into a "mini social Event" with some Trainers seeing it as a nice day out for Owners and connections with their horses qualified early and there for the day out. There will also be others of course targeted at the Meeting with form hidden a little under the bushel.
Lets try and crack the conundrum.
2.20 (2 miles and 1 1/2 furlongs) Good to Soft
There are 15 in here and I'd not rule too many out. At the top end of the market the one that stands out for me as having some scope is Lucinda Russell's BLOORIEDOTCOM who Derek Fox picks from the three Yard runners. It has some Course form and it will be disappointing if it's not right in contention. I would not rule out stable mates Spark Of Madness or Gemologist, Spark Of Madness though barely gets 2 miles and Gemologist is a multi race Maiden although nicely handicapped.
IOLANI won this race last year by some distance and has had a similar prep this time round and just gets the nod over stablemate The Navigator for Diane Sayer. At bigger Odds the one most likely to upset the market could be WAR VERGE who has won off marks of 101 and 107, it preferes better ground and can travel very strongly and off 108 I fancy it can outrun Odds significantly.
Selections - Blorriedotcom / Iolani / War Verge

2.55 (3 miles) Good to Soft
The top 3 in the market, Moon King; Goodtimes Badtimes and Wynford have obvious chances and there are a couple returning from breaks who could go close if primed but I just fancy that Liffydale Dreamer and White Walker may need the run. McCain runs Akentrick whose best recent form has been here and the Russell yard have a very unexposed type in Return Fire.
The best handicapped and best value though for me lies with Nicky Richards BULLION BOSS who was 6th in this race last year, it runs off a 5lbs lower mark today off 95 and on the drying ground should be looking to place at the very least. At bigger Odds I'm drawn to PAMMI who likes this trip on an easy right handed track and has won off marks of 101, 107 and 113, its not in obviously good form but these are absolutely ideal conditions for it and off a low mark of 101 is one who could pop up at nice odds.
Selections - Bullion Boss / Pammi

3.30 (2 miles 4 furlongs)
We have another 2021 winner here in ISLAND MAHEE who won off 99 and returns off a mark of 106. You'd have to think that they travel with "a plan" hatched from a while back and I expect a bold effort to follow up. A tongue tip could eek out a bit of improvement for LIZZIELOCH and that would take her very close. Cancan and Millarville have good chances on recent Course form but there is a chance that MISSCARLETT who won a race in the Autumn at Market Rasen off a mark of 84 and who runs off a mark of 97 here with a good 5lbs Claimer may have been prepared for this by a spin unsighted on the AW a few weeks ago and could pop up in to a place at nice e/w Odds.
Selections - Island Mahee / Lizzieloch / Misscarlett.
It's a tricky Meeting to assess so not one to go overboard on Staking wise.
I suggest a small Patent e/w (3 singles / 3 doubles and a treble on BLOORIEDOTCOM / BULLION BOSS and ISLAND MAHEE (a 50p e/w Patent costs £7.00)
I'll then suggest an e/w accumulator on those 3 and add in IOLANI / PAMMI and LIZZIELOCH (so a pair in each race) (a 25p each way Patent - 2 per race)
Finally I'll have a long priced e/w double on War Verge and Misscarlett. (£1 each way territory maximum)
I'll stake about £10 - £15 in total on all 3 bets and hope to make a Net Profit.
