A competitive renewal and not too many proven at the trip but of those that are a few have conclusived CD form.

 

A couple of Irish Raiders and Sean has assisted with feedback saying that Fiveaftermidnight on seasonal debut has no real Irish form beyond 3 miles but is from a Yard that are very adept at a plot Cloguille Way is a more likely danger has it has been over 4 miles over the Irish banks and could stay on and on if it turned in to an absolute slog in the mud. The suggestion therefore with him is to hold fire and if it does bucket down and turn Heavy, a small e/w investment may be a fun side bet.

 

Buddha Scheme for Lucinda Russell has been 4 miles but isn't really up to the class of some of these and an enhanced place is probably the best hope, Wake Up Early is worth a try at 4 miles but generally goes much better on Good ground, so any rain is a negative. Cyclop stays all day and is another who could run a place on a going day. 

 

Flower Of Scotland is upped in trip for the always dangerous Sandy Thompson yard who are stacked with long Distance Chasers but not overly fancied by connections, their main hope may be The Ferry Master who has placed in a Scottish National at Ayr in 2021 off a 10lbs higher mark, it's been out of sorts since so runs off a nice mark and I'm not convinced rain would help this one either, although purely on that Ayr run he has to be a danger.

 

The 3 that I most like are last year's winner and runner up BIG RIVER and CASH TO ASH and also Niceandeasy who is a progressive 9 year old Chaser from the in-form Alexander yard who is worth a try at this extended trip.

 

I really do fancy CASH TO ASH to go one better this time, it's a progressive horse and aimed at the race and although strictly on the form between the pair BIG RIVER should come out on top, he has more physical weight to carry than last year, and in heavy ground the lead in the saddle is more of a burden than a handicap mark on a bit of paper.
