Haydock 4.55

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Haydock 4.55 - Handicap - Class 3 - 7 furlongs - 13 run - Going Good

In many ways this race deserves higher billing than closing the Card.

It's stacked with winners and in some ways I think the market has totally ignored that fact.

At the head of the market Asad, an AW winner, Ascot Adventure a promising less exposed type who has shown promise particularly last time at Doncaster, Earls, who comes from Ireland for Gavin Cromwell with better form so far at shorter and Kingmania are all really about potential and promise. They may well dominate this but just go to the bottom of the current market and work up and it's very illuminating.

Muntadab may be a veteran now but won 4 times in 2021 off marks from 77 to 85 in Class 3 and 4 and runs off 83 here for Roger Fell. Uno Gregory also won 4 times in 2021 off marks from 66 to 80 and David Allen rides today off a mark of 82 for Tim Easterby. Gweedore also won 4 times in 2021 and has also won a race this season off marks from 73 to 83 and runs off 85, incredibly Rusco went one better and won 5 times in 2021 off marks from 59 to 79 and makes its seasonal debut.

Work this one out?.

In the midst of these are Cold Stare for David O'Meara who has had a couple of runs and who would have definitely been a Tip today but for the fact that it's best form is all with "soft" in the title. Maybe he needs those taps left on. One to Track with a "soft ground" marker for sure. Mossbawn would also been of major interest on 2021 form but was practically pulled up at York last week as if something wasn't right and it hasn't been blamed on tack or equipment failure, so best I think we watch that one although it would be no surprise if it popped up.

I'm left with ZIP and I think this one is really ready to fire. Richard Fahey I maintain is still having a quiet time by his standards but this one has had 2 runs, will be cherry fit, is a genuine Class 2 horse and looks primed to run a big race.

Of those listed who win for a habit, and any horse who wins 3 or 4 times a season can never be ignored, I think UNO GREGORY is the most interesting here.  As a 6 year old I think this will be it's "peak season" and the Yard could not be in better form. At the price I can't ignore it.
