Haydock 3.10

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Haydock 3.10 - Handicap - Class 4 - 5 furlongs - 12 run (advertised Good / Good to Firm - heavy am showers forecast) - Inner Sprint Track

This Sprint race is on the Inner track which has tended to favour higher drawn horses in recent times in all ground conditions and historically more so on softer Going.

Its competitive and at the head of the market Sound Reason for Kevin Ryan drawn in Stall 11 is a worthy favourite who'll take a lot of beating. It progressed well in 2021 winning off marks of 69 and 75, made a pleasing return and a mark of 81 doesn't look excessive. I think though that CELCIUS who has excellent Course and Distance form and who won at Ascot on reappearance and who runs off a mark below it's highest ever win mark and drawn in 7 is the one they all have to beat and I'll have a win or e/w saver on it.

Modular magic is good enough to make a bold bid from Stall 12 if that is the side to be and Ballintay Harbour is a nice horse who can win races for Paul Migeley but for whom any rain may be a negative. Indian Sounds is dropping down towards a competitive mark again but may still need a couple of runs to be spot on fitness and handicap mark wise and of those at bigger prices Street Life has Course and Distance winning form but Stall 1 may not be a great place to be. Hey Mr has shown glimmers of form on Good to Soft Going and could outrun big Odds off what looks a nice mark.

The one I really like though is MISS NAY NEVER for John Quinn with Jason Hart in the saddle. It drops from Class 3 where it's been competitive on a number of occasions, runs off a nice competitive mark, Stall 9 could be the optimum kind of slot to follow pace and also to cover the best side of the Draw and it's a horse that seems to be ground variable. They may have found an excellent opportunity here.

TIP - Miss Nay Never (have a saver on CELCIUS - win or e/w to your discretion)
