NORTHERN - Goodwood 3.00 Handicap - 1 mile - Class 2 - 20 run - Good to Firm
This is uber tricky and you really have to go I think with your judgement and gut feel in many way.
A host arrive here off wins and in form but penalised and that just puts me off Eilean Dubh, The Turpinator, Saleymm, Jimi Hendrix and Sijaari, any of them could progress again but I just think they may have won their targets for now. NOBLE TERRITORY is clearly the one they all have to beat, if you want a win saver at short odds feel free, I'm chasing bigger value to be honest
Rebel Territory is a course winner and Amanda Perratt and her family (The Harwoods) will have targeted this race for sure but it's a bit tight price wise and possibly in the grip now of the handicapper, Shining Blue is like Noble Territory in the "could be anything" bracket but will need luck in running from stall 20. Blue For You is one of a clutch from O'Meara's ' yard but keeps getting penalised for not winning and I think the Yard have better value options.
Of the O'Meara horses I think that both ESCOBAR and RHOSCOLYN are very big prices, both probably dictated by the draw but if either could get a tow and slingshot out wider thay are capable of very big runs. I'll cover them off with a £1 each way type bet on both.
I think that the Johnston 3 year old AUSTRIAN THEORY ticks all the boxes for this race from that Yard, it's drawn 12 but can get prominent early and this could be a nice mark, I've got NO stamina concerns, it's all about pace and fractions. ORBAAN finally gets a dream berth in Stall 2 its on a nice mark and SDS rides for O'Meara, more regularly raced at 7 furlongs I think a mile is well within scope and if it can get a run down the rail could use tactical speed to make a break for it 2 out and avoid the probably bad luck in running in behind.
Of the others I really thought OUZO jumped off the page for Jamie and Saffie Osborne, drawn in 7 is a bonus, it's on a nice mark and one the guts just tell me is primed to make a big effort here.
