Doncaster 3.13

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Doncaster 3.13 November Handicap - 1 mile 4 furlongs - Class 2 - 21 run - Heavy (some showers)

The market is led by unexposed horses from the Gosden and Haggas yards, ISRAR and NATHANIEL GREENE. They may well dominate although 12 furlongs in the mud round here in the mud will sort the men from the boys and they are boys with their best days ahead so I'll have a small reverse forecast to cover them off as I think it's more a day for an experienced second row than a flying winger to quote a Rugby Union parlance.

Metier and First Officer are also hard to quantify and I'm happy to take both on given the conditions. On To Victory won this a couple of years ago but seems regressive but fits the right profile and one that will be a big danger. I would not rule out Mr Alan for a Yard that's had a great season and he's another I fear. Dark Jedi loves mud and is also tough to rule out as is the now progressive Furzig, upped in Class, who won for us at 14/1 three weeks ago and who has done in; once again since.  Deja returns from a year off having had its last run in this race last year

At big Odds both Mr Curiosity who was unraced for Gosden and then did well for charlie Fellowes and who moved to Tim Easterby just over a week ago and LUNAR JET 5th in this last year and an out and out mud lover would not be "no hopers" and LUNAR JET may well plod in to an enhanced place once again if you want £1 e/w to see if it does at big Odds.

I was left with a shortlist of 4 of the 21 runners to attack the enhanced places.

I can't really split TRITONIC , FARHAN and TEED UP and want a small shrapnel bey on the in form EMIYN

EMIYN  is in good form, has assured stamina for 2 miles, has won in heavy Going in Ireland and its prominent run style may take it a long way into this race. I'm not sure a low draw is ideal if they come stand side off the final turn but it should have a prominent pitch to at least make that decision from near the front as opposed to behind a wall of horses.

TRITONIC is a good dual purpose horse so I don't see stamina as an issue nor the Going, and 19 may be a nice draw, FARHAN won this off 87 last year and has recently been sold to Phil Kirby it carries more weight but also gets a nice draw and I think primed for the race which explains the late sale. TEED UP is a typically exposed or unexposed Irish raider, you never really know what's hidden in those Irish marks who would clearly have a sporting chance if they have anything up their sleeves!

TRACKERS - Tritonic / Farhan / Teed Up - shrapnel - Emiyn (£1 e/w on Lunar Jet)
