Doncaster 2.40

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

Doncaster 2.40 - Virgin Bet November Handicap - Class 2 - 1 mile 4 furlongs - Soft - 23 run

A big field in the mud and some fancied progressive types but I think that proven stamina, some form in Autumn soft Conditions and just some good old fashioned "hunches" are the way to go in this type of race.

I narrowed it down to a short list of 4 and left out Calling The Wind, whose stamina and soft ground form appealed but not 100% sure about it at the price, East Asia who could be a progressive late season bloomer after a good win last time out and Nuits St Georges who has plenty of good soft ground form and stamina but who just looks too high in the weights now , off that final list and all 3 are horses I fear in these conditions and big runs would not be a surprise.

I will have a Tip, a Tracker and a shrapnel horse and play a Tricast Perm and the 4th horse in the Perm is DARK JEDI who has an obvious chance on all form lines and should be right in contention.

The shrapnel horse is WHITEHAVEN at a big price. Drawn in Stall 1, it has proven stamina, likes soft ground, it won 3 times last Autumn shooting up from a mark of 55 to 66 in the process, won again off a mark of 81 and although not massively well handicapped off 87 here just looks like a November horse to me.

The main pair though are RHYTHMIC INTENT who was runner up in this last year, up 3lbs and looks to have an outstanding chance with conditions again ideal and that proven Autumn form is crucial in terms of my analysis.

The Tip though is PRINCE ALEX for Michael Bell and Rossa Ryan. The nature of it's win at Goodwood in soft conditions over 14 furlongs reads very well in the context of this race, won last Autumn and off a mark of 92, I just think everything falls into place for a very big run here to wind up my turf Flat season.

TIP - Prince Alex / Tracker - Rhythmic Intent (shrapnel -: Whitehaven / T/Cast Perm - Dark Jedi)
