Doncaster 1.45 Portland Handicap

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

Doncaster 1.45 Portland Handicap - 5 and 1/2 furlongs - 22 run - Going Good.

Some old favourites in here and plenty with chances.

If there is a dark horse who could be still progressive and possibly better than high level handicap Class it's Roger Varians PREMIER POWER. Still very lightly raced for a 4 year old, clearly had some issues but one who still has time on its side. Drawn in Stall 6 and with Oisin Murphy booked it really is time for this one to turn potential in to something tangible and I'll be disappointed if it's not very competitive .

Jawaal drawn Stands side was closely considered but i feel a better horse at the bare 5 furlongs and the better option may be the in form MONDAMMEJ who finally hit the winners enclosure last weekend after a series of good runs, gets optimum conditions again today and only a 3lb rise so with confidence boosted I'd expect another big run from a berth in Stall 11.

The other one that caught my eye was MID WINSTER at a nice each way price. Has some nice corse form, usually runs a solid race up to its handicap mark, just needs everything to drop right and get luck in running and this intermediate trip looks ideal as can be just outpaced by the real speedsters over a bare 5 furlongs and yet just caught for a bit of stamina over a full 6 furlongs. Paul Midgely is always one to keep an eye on in these Heritage Sprints.

TIP - PREMIER POWER / Trackers - Mid Winster + Mondammej
