Doncaster 1.15

NORTHERN - Doncaster 1.15 - Handicap - Class 4 - 14 run - Soft - some showers

Doncaster drains very well but they start on Soft going after a lot of recent rain and with more to come the next few days could see the drainage system put to the test.

I don't think draw bias is a massive factor here but Stands side usually has an advantage when it does rain and pace angles can play a big part.

There is a lot of pace middle to high and the likes of Antiphon who has won at 5 furlongs and on soft could lead for a long way from Stall 15 and I would not discount an enhanced place if any behind hit traffic problems. Jump The Gun is drawn in 13 and has form at 6 and 7 furlongs and not lightly discounted by any means despite being out of form currently, my bigger concern would be the Going. Snash IS in the Tracker but i don't think Stall 1 nor the rain does it any favours. I have similar Going concerns about Abate.

The biggest conundrum is about ALPHA CAPTURE who showed some real promise initially as a 2 year old, it takes a big drop in Class and off what would on that form seem to be an excessively lenient handicap mark, the fact that the market hasn't got it at very short odds maybe suggests it's got some underlying issues but it's impossible not to flag it up in the context of the race!

At the top end of the market Rathbone drawn in Stall 12 is a very solid competitor and may be just best on Good Going and a penalty does it no favours either so is reluctantly left off the investment list and I feel Temple Bruer and Strong Johnson can be opposed at their prices for win purposes as both would be more suited to better Going.

I'm most keen by some margin after all that analysis on RAMBUSO CREEK, it's drawn in Stall 9 for Kevin Ryan and Billy Loughnane and ticks all the right boxes for me, I also think that it's adjacent to a couple who are well worth a shrapnel investment, AS IF BY CHANCE is drawn in 10, a Distance winner on Good to Soft, has soft form at 7 furlongs so has a good stamina angle too and ties in perfectly with the main selection as next to that one in Stall 8 is SPEEDACUS who as the name suggests is a speedy type with a Course win over 5 furlongs in soft off a similar mark to today and I think this one and Antiphon up the rail can set the race up nicely for RAMBUSO CREEK and AS IF BY CHANCE staying on late to good effect.

Tips (1) Rambuso Creek / (2) As If By Chance / (3s) Speedacus
