Catterick 4.35

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

CATTERICK 4.35 Handicap - Class 5 - 7 Furlongs - - 12 run Going - Good

The top of the market looks likely to dominate and it would be good to see MEDECINE JACK who almost won for us last time get a well deserved win from a nice berth in Stall 4. If you wanted a small win bet on that one, I would not put you off. Mr Strutter and Klopp of The Kop though will be very tough rivals.

One who is worth a small investment and whose turn may be near is ROUND THE ISLAND, I'm not phased by a high draw nor a mark that stubbornly refuses to fall into the high 50's range that the horse needs. It has run well here before and on the last 2 runs has just struck me as a horse ready to run a big race. Whatever happens today one to track with a note to be especially vigilant when that mark falls below 60.

One for the Tracker although given a prime draw in Stall 1 - I will have a very small investment personally is SASSOON, stone last on it's last 4 starts says more about the horses brain than physical ability. If you look at it's career it tends to drop itself out when any chance has gone and that makes it look a less capable horse than it actually is. A couple of wins on soft and heavy last Autumn saw its mark rise from 55 to 63 to 72 and it has failed to be competitive in such heady company - back now to a mark of 59 it's perceived as a soft going horse but placed on Good to Firm Going at Windsor in 2019. I just think if it breaks and runs prominently and gets involved it can do some damage on this tight track from the front. Worth a Tracker entry too for late September / early october = the way it blossomed from similar poor form figures last year in the Autumn.
