Catterick 1.00

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Catterick 1.00 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 3 furlongs - 13 run - Good to Soft (dry day)

A competitive little race and at the head of the market Coral Blue doesn't really look great value despite being off a falling mark. Jelski though looks to be running in to form for James Moffatt and runs off a mark just above its last win mark of 102, it'll be the one I think we have to beat but at the early prices at the head of the market I think that KINGS CREEK is stronger. Mark Walfords dual purpose horse has a Course win over shorter when with the Jardine yard but gets this trip and clearly likes the Course. The ground will be drying as a sunny chilly day forecast and the price gives us a bit of each way wriggle room.

Zamond for the McCains will be another danger to us, it won in Ireland for Colin Bowe off an Irish mark of 89, gets the trip but not yet fired in the UK and the handicap mark of 102 here may need to come down a fair bit to make the horse competitive. Getaway Boy for Sue Smith will probably need the run, will definitely be seen to better effect over further when fit and the booking of lily pinchin suggests to me that they will make a bold bid off the front and let the horse fill its lungs when it can. Rumble B has shown minor promise over Course and Distance last time and if coming on for that may nick a place and the absolute outsider Filou Des Issards has one piece of form with Phillip Hobbs that makes for interesting reading and is being nibble at.

I do think the other one worth an investment though is BRICKANDANK for Micky Hammond. It gets a tongue strap for the first time and on more than one occasion has travelled very strongly into races over shorter and at this trip and not found a great deal for pressure. A runner up at Carlisle over 2 and a half miles up the hill there off a mark of 80 suggests that this trip and a mark of 78 with an excellent 3lbs claimed is well within range.
