Carlisle 6.40

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Carlisle 6.40 - Handicap - Class 5 - 2 miles 1 furlong - Going Good (significant rain from around 5-6pm forecast) - 13 run

A fair few of these have better Flat form on the AW or Good or Firmer Turf and although some have decent Hurdles form there are a few who may end up with ideal Conditions on Good to Soft Going.

At the head of the market Hackberry for Brian Ellison and Clifftop Heaven for Archie Watson look very strong but their best Flat form is on the AW and this tough climb on possibly increasingly soaked turf may not play to their strengths. Diocletion for Keith Dalgleish may be running back in to some form but is short enough in the market.

Via A Vis is another who may be best suited to a firmer surface and possibly the hardest to judge may be TOMORROWS ANGEL who has winning Flat form on its last 2 Flat runs at this trip off marks of 53 and 56, it runs off 60 here but has been off for 255 days over jumps and 299 days on the Flat. It's run well off breaks of 2 and 3 months but form after this kind of break suggests it may just need the run. Had it been coming off a break of less than 100 days it would have been a tip for sure!

The pair I like the most with some wiggle room price wise are WYNFORD whose last Flat win was off a mark of 65 over 18 furlongs at Pontefract with a similar uphill climb, it should stay on to and through the line off a mark of 66 and I've no reason to make any excuses if it goes softer either. IDILICO is another who can handle some cut, its last Flat turf win was off a mark of 59, its fit from Jumping and off a mark of 63 is well enough handicapped to be competitive.

If you wanted a shrapnel bet at a big price I think that MANJAAM could outrun Odds for Stella Barclay and Faye McMamanoman, a very underestimated partnership!, its got proven Flat and NH stamina and could be on a nice handicap mark and the Yard is in decent nick with a big priced winner and a few nice places in the past 10 days.

TIP - Wynford / TRACKER - Idilico /   shrapnel - Manjaam
