Beverley 2.50

By UK Flat / AW (Northern)

NORTHERN - Beverley 2.50 - Handicap - Class 3 - 5 furlongs - 16 run - Good

There is a view here that you have to be Drawn LOW to win Sprint races. Whilst a Low draw is a benefit, especially on Good to Firm, its also the case that you still need to break well otherwise being behind a wall of horses out of stall 1 is no different to  being out wide in stall 16. It's also the case that many come late and sprout winds about 4-5 horse lengths off the far rail and more up the middle. The market also tends to over-estimate those drawn low and under-estimate some draw out from the higher end of the Draw.

At the top end of the market I'm not particularly keen on Show Yourself who has CD form and is fit but upped in Class, Ey Up Its Maggie has had a run and gets Stall 4 but at the likely odds I would want to take on and Sound Reason I think is only the price it is due to the berth in Stall 1 and there are a fair few outside of it that usually ping the stalls with regularity.

Saluti was very progressive last back end but may need the run, Mid Winster is definitely on the "track" and Midgeley and Lee did have a nice double in the Sprint Handicaps at Thirsk on Saturday but the mark looks a bit high for me at the moment for this one. Ava Go Joe is another I think will need the one that you can track onwards after today.

At the prices and drawn handily more in the area to attack either tactically with a quick break or from just off the pace down that strip about 5-6 horse widths off the rail in the final furlongs are SOUL SEEKER and HAVEAGOMECCA.

HAVEAGOMECCA was progressive last summer into Autumn, it won first time out last year so can run well fresh, it's placed here too off a much higher draw so ticks all the right boxes at a nice price drawn 10 off a mark of 77.

SOUL SEEKER runs for David O'Meara with Danny Tudhop in the saddle, one of the top notch Northern combos and is only 1lb above its last win mark. Its also decent enough fresh and best runs have been when starting fast and making all. From Stall 9 it has that tactical versatility of being drawn to go from the front or to ride just off the pace inside it and then strike up the middle.

You definitely need luck in running here but I'm quietly confident of some net e/w profit.
