Ayr 2.10

NORTHERN - Ayr 2.10 Novice Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 3 and a half furlongs - 16 run - Good to Soft
A few of these will be worth following I'm sure but it's a nice little race and I'm not convinced that some at shorter prices will enjoy the conditions and some of those at that end of the market may just need the run too.
Hard Iron for Nicky Richards (my nemesis) with Callum Bewley up makes handicap debut, upped in trip and at the price I want to take it on. Brian Hughes rides Spanish Hustle for JIm Goldie so you can guarantee the market will be keen on it, its fit from the Flat but on NH runs for previous Trainer is unproven at this trip and it's a long old way down the straight here even for brian Hughes to carry it home.
Warriors Story had a nice win at Newcastle last Spring over this trip on Good ground, it pulled up lame though at Perth in May and may therefore be a bit short of race fitness as it will have needed recovery time. Faithful Flyer is a moderate ex Irish horse who has had a wind operation and I think the price reflects the ability of Sandy Thompson more than that of the horse so far. Money For Jam has shown signs of form but is another who should benefit from this seasonal debut. Destarius is solid, very fit from the Flat but not crying out for this trip on soft ground I don't think. One to TRACK is GLORY who is well handicapped here on some Irish form with Graham McCourt and worth a small shrapnel bet today if you want one. Another, I'll track is September Daisy who has arrived with Nick Alexander, ex Tom George and one who could pick up a small race if benefitting from the move north.
My main selections are FUTURE BENEFITS and THATS YOUR LOTTIE.
FUTURE BENEFITS runs for the in form and very progressive Rebecca Menzies yard, owned by ex Trainer John Wade and one who has had the benefit of a quiet seasonal debut so will strip fitter. I think this one will improve the further it goes and it will be disappointing if it's not placed at least today. THATS YOUR LOTTIE is also race fit, gets this trip OK and will be fine as long as it doesn't turn heavy, ridden by an in form and improving jockey in Emma Smith-Chaston who like a few of her peers has a real eye for pace and fractions.
