NAVAN - Handicap - 1 mile 6 furlongs - Yielding (dry day forecast) - 2 Divisions both 20 runners
4.50 Div 1-:
At the top end of the market in this one the likes of Tudor Man and Forlio have solid records, if not jumping off the pages as likely winners and I'm more concerned about Elusive Guy, who despite top weight was my 4th best rated.
My clear top rated though is BEAUTIFUL CHAOS a Course and Distance winner and placed off a mark in the mid 60's on this sort of ground last season, he runs off a mark of 61 with a 10lbs Claimer and I think a tough stamina testing track like this brings out the very best in him and I'll be disappointed if not bang in contention here.
For slightly smaller stakes if you want to reflect my greater confidence on the first one named, I would suggest that both FUTURUM REGUM who has a solid profile and for whom the drying ground will be a significant positive and CAFE CON LECHE who should be suited by the Going and Trip, but who may just be a better horse right handed, look the strongest of the rest by some margin.
5.25 Div 2-: The top end horses in here are Billy Frechette a 3 year old upped in trip, Lady Kai who carries a 10lbs penalty and Believe In Science who comes off a 3 month break. Again I think all have solid if not spectacular chances and I have one I'm very keen on and another 2 well worth a punt.
CHARLIE DARLING brings proven stamina in abundance and looks an each way banker to me. ENQUIRE WITHIN has a decent Course and Distance record with a place here off a mark of 57, another with proven stamina and nicely handicapped still with the drying ground a positive too. A more speculative one who has yet to fire but who I think deserves a final chance for this Turf Flat season is SCOTT LANG, disappointing when tipped last time but one I won't give up on just yet.
