Southwell 5.50 Handicap Hurdle - class 5 - 3 miles 1/2 furlong - 16 run - Good (few light showers)

A 16 runner field and four of them came out clearly in my analysis so are tipped with a degree of confidence and there is one other that I found VERY intriguing.

Of the remainder, Inspector Lynley is lightly raced and upped in trip and like Rocky Hill could be a better horse than we've seen so far. Bergentown and Sammylou would both have win potential once fully fit and I will TRACK them forwards after today. Fox's Son and Robeam are both capable but neither stand out to me as likely winners here.

ERIC CARMEN is my clear top rated following a nice win over 2 and 1/2 miles last time, this 3 mile P2P winner gets a 6lbs penalty but is still off a lower mark than he was running off in Ireland and I think the step back up to 3 miles should be ideal. JETEYE reverts back to Hurdles and on better ground than for a poor Chase run last time would only need to replicate a good placed run here over Course and distance and hurdles on seasonal debut in April to again be very competitive. FINE BY ME who is definitely best fresh and who is very lightly managed in terms of runs by Twiston - Davies is below its last winning mark and gets a good 7lbs claimer up and he gets the nod for third rated over Stripe Of Honour who was runner up on seasonal debut but who has a habit also of running best fresh but then the form can recede, for that reason alone I just preferred FINE BY ME.

Finally, there is one very intriguing one in LUMINARES, a rank outsider from the Mulhollan Yard with no form but who gets first time cheek-pieces. I'm just a bit intrigued as to why Richie McLernon rides second favourite Inspector Lynley off 10 stone 8 lbs and Sean Bowen sweats down to his minimum weight of 10 stones and 2 lbs to ride a 50-66/1 shot, now he might put up a few pounds overweight, but it's the sort of anomaly that cries out for a small side e/w investment to enhanced places don't you think?
