HAMILTON PARK 8.00 - Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 4 furlongs - Soft - 13 run
Hamilton Park has a Course configuration not dissimilar to Salisbury, a Straight Track and a switchback, which means 12 furlong races start near the Finish Line, run back down the hill, in to an uphill right hand turn, then down the hill in to the Straight before meeting some very steep rising ground. It's very easy to go too fast too early and a Course that can suit Track specialists and also local Trainers. You don't want to be on a horse with unproven stamina here.
At the head of the market we have Desert Quest who won this race in 2021 and who is very consistent with form figures of 2-2-3-2 on its last 4 runs but every drop of rain would be considered to be a significant negative. Reveal also has best form so far on better underfoot conditions at slightly shorter and Sycamore Gap should also be very competitive here but doesn't seem to find much in the closing stages at trips between 11 and 14 furlongs. Michaels Pledge drops in trip with some glimmers of form, whilst outside of my top pair, nothing else really entices me in.
LUNACY ran at the weekend but would be a strong and solid punt if reappearing with Course wins off marks of 59 and 60 at 11 furlongs and plenty of evidence it can now be considered upped to 12 furlongs off a mark of 49 and some improvement in form recently. BRISTOL HILL looks excellent early value (so take a price) with a Course win, a Distance win elsewhere (the Course win was over an extended 13 and 1/2 furlongs) off a mark of 49, and todays mark of 52 should not prevent a bold run.
