Haydock 4.05 Maiden Fillies Stakes -Class 4 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 13 run - Good to Soft

It's possible to harvest some nice types from races like this to track forwards into Handicaps across the Class scale and occasionally find something that may go on to non handicaps, although on this occasion I think that is unlikely.

At the head of the market I think that Queen Of Soldiers is the one to beat but at 7/4 I am keen to take her on and I don't think that Faifa will turn out to be best at this trip but at 12 furlongs and at the price therefore I can take that one on too. I'm keen to watch both Consuelo from a Yard that has a record second to none with Fillies and Implacable who may be one to follow into medium Grade Handicaps and we'll TRACK both of those onwards.

I think the market value and visual form evidence makes LASTING LOVE the best each way proposition, not so much on the Cheshire Oaks run when thrown in the deep end , but on seasonal debut at Newbury which was full of promise, and no doubt led to a tilt at Chester, and provided that race hasn't left any mental scars, I think this one is the value bet of the race.

I looked closely at Taramasalata and its run over a mile at the Newmarket Craven meeting was interesting and worth close analysis and she would have been second pick but for an intriguing Gosden runner (second string in betting) in SKYREACH who is very nicely bred and from one of those Yards where the market can under rate a  newcomer when the notional first string is a far shorter price. Uttoxeter 4.50 Handicap Chase - Class 5 - 3 miles - 14 run - Good

Dirk Gently is in the TRACKER but has yet to prove stamina at this trip and may just be here to build race fitness. Phil De Pail looks an uneasy favourite based on an Unseat on Chase debut after some sketchy jumping. Batman For Ever, Hey Day Baby, and Ideal De Romay have some 3 mile P2P form and the latter pair will be TRACKED forwards for the summer on that basis. There are glimmers of past form that suggests that Daranova and Cobra Commander (tipped last week but faded very tamely) may find a level that they can win off again but both best watched for now.

JETEYE looks solid win material on its seasonal debut and had ground excuses last time but it's now or never you feel with this one and not dissimilar profile for HATTONS GARDENS who has often promised but is 8 years old now and finally gets stepped up to what should be an ideal 3 miles over Chase fences after a promising 3 mile P2P start which has not yet bloomed as we expected.

At BIG Odds, take a look at FRIENDS DON'T ASK who built up a nice sequence in 2021 with wins off marks of 102, 105 and 110, a 2 year injury break curtailed that promise and 4 runs back have not yet gleaned conclusive evidence as to what ability remains, but in a race that lacks depth and some signs of fitness returning last time, there are worse big priced nibbles on a quiet day to enhanced places (DT)
