GALWAY 2.20 Handicap Hurdle - 3 miles 1/2 furlong - 20 run - Yielding
A typically competitive handicap on the final day and with a lot of rain about and after 7 days of Racing we have to assume it's going to be pretty soft underfoot.
I'm not sure that the going will suit Sea Music who placed over shorter on Wednesday or Flicker of Hope who is upped in trip and I Am Spiderman upped 10lbs and another who might not welcome the rain. The UK contestants Party Business and Fever Dream aren't that well known in Ireland but based on UK form will be dangerous runners if not obvious winners.
Littlebiggie and Topgun Simmy on handicap debut aren't ruled out but hard to be completely sure about whilst Dorans Law isn't totally convincing at the trip.
Intersky Sunset will be a danger as 1st Reserve but a bigger danger though less likely to get a run is the 3rd reserve 23 BALLAGH STAR @ 40/1 - this would run off a bare 10 stones, off a nice mark and has some interesting Course form in soft ground, I strongly suggest a small e/w stake "with a run"
I was left with a short list other than these with PEACHES AND AND CREAM the 5th rated, so our notional reserve and otherwise a small side stake if you want it, interesting back over Hurdles and placed in this race last year.
My top 4 on ratings though are-:
GINNETS GIRL - has not been running badly without looking like a certain future winner but this is optimum trip; the rain will be welcomed and finally she is back around last winning mark of 109, off 100 with a 3lbs Claimer to be exact. It will be very disappointing if she is not in the first 4 here.
ARABIAN KING - very interesting back up to 3 miles where he has rarely raced but is surely going to be the best sort of trip for the horse. Has solid form in soft and heavy and personally, I have no stamina concerns with this one despite the reluctance to step up more often to this trip, maybe that's been the plan all along?
ANOTHER CHOICE - biggish price but has a Course and Distance place, OK on Yielding and soft, ran on Thursday over an inadequate trip and a solid enhanced e/w place if turning out again. (If n/r then swap PEACHES AND CREAM @ 25/1 straight in!)
DONKEY YEARS - has returned to Hurdling and had some quiet runs but fully acclimatised back to smaller obstacles and will certainly get the trip and go through the mud!
(Sean) - my sincere apologies again to a few Members who contacted me after I incorrectly annotated "MG" - MIchael as the tipster on Hidden Land on Thursday which meant they did not have a punt as they followed Sean but not Michael. I won't blame the busy schedule nor the heat - it was a genuine error on my part.
