Limerick 3.15 - Handicap Hurdle - 3 miles - 18 run - Good to Yielding - (Amateur Jockeys)
An interesting field here and we'll start with a couple I've added to the TRACKER after analysing the race for future reference and they are Hurricane Darwin who has had a couple of runs back after an extended absence having shown plenty of promise before the break and Georgian Quarter who has shown plenty of promise in 3 mile P2P fields and one to follow over the next few seasons.
At the top of the market I think the odds are too restrictive on Size Five who won a nothing race at Perth off a near 2 year break, I think this trip just stretches Tullyveery Lad who was rated my 4th highest of the field, Wa Wa looks a bit high in the handicap right now and has a big weight as a result, Emily In Paris is more of a summer jumper I feel and Lucky Viv has yet to translate some promise in to handicaps.
Of the rest Good World has run the odd decent race at the trip but overall I feel is best over shorter than this and the remainder outside of my top three don't entice even a mention.
I think that proven Course and Distance form is a big bonus here, as is proven Autumn ground form and as a result I will follow the existing Tracker, which has thrown up FILL THE TANK and STELLAR SYMPHONY and will add in another horse who has won for us before and placed well in HE FITZ IN.
In preference order STELLAR SYMPHONY has solid credentials provided the heavy rain doesn't appear too soon and that's my only niggle, FILL THE TANK had an excellent run late last year with form figures of 1-2-1 including over Course and Distance off marks of 90-98-100 and comes here off a mark of 95 with a 2lbs Claim and HE FITZ IN is also back to a far more competitive handicap mark and also has solid Course and Distance form last Autumn and in to earlier this year. Limerick 3.50 Munster National Handicap - 3 Miles - 16 run - Good to Yielding
Elliott sends the usual mass entries plus has a couple of reserves of which The Goffer is not likely to appreciate the configuration of 5 tightly packed fences down the back here to test his suspect jumping and most of his others may need the run or just seem out of form.
I want to TRACK Panda Boy forwards with a particular eye on Leopardstown at Christmas and in February and he's likely to need this run and also Yeah Man, who I think is one worth looking at strongly for the Aintree and Irish Nationals and will also come on for this. At the bigger end of the market I think Falco Blitz could outrun Odds and Favouri De Champdou could be a real danger on handicap debut.
It's very hard to look beyond HORATZAU D'AIRY for Mullins, who got closer to Flooring Porter than anything else staying on late last time and PERCIVAL LEGALLOIS who ran better than the final finishing position suggested in the same race. Perhaps my biggest confidence though outside of those pair and including them is an anticipation that at very nice Odds we could see a storming run and return to form from REAL STEEL who has a nice handicap mark and racing weight with Danny Mullins up and who jumped off the proverbial page at me.
