BEVERLEY 4.40 - Handicap - Class 4 - 5 furlongs - 14 run - Good to Firm

Whilst I'm not going to do too many 5 furlongs Sprints in lower Class races this summer this one caught my eye for a few reasons, aside from the fact it's easily the most competitive Flat Handicap in the UK today with a decent each way market.

The Good to Firm Going will sort a few out as being "more likely" with proven form with their hooves rattling and despite the fact that the decades long Low Draw bias has dissipated here with the advancement of the watering systems and a more even spread of water (the tractor going up the track with a sprayed used to leave a firmer strip near the inside rail) , it is still a handy advantage if breaking on terms of fast to grab that rail early. The Draw has not been the sole reason for the selections, they pick themselves on MERIT in terms of analysis, but by a quirk are Drawn Low and that does them no harm in my opinion.

The favourite is Sanat an unexposed AW winner with little turf form, at the top end of the market we also have Keldeo, penalised for a win last time but no real form on the ground, Frank The Spark, a Course and Distance winner who will be a big danger and Rock Of England, who was 4th top rated in my analysis who could be very well handicapped if a winter wind operation can boost health.

Glory Hyde was seriously considered but Stall 12 is a niggle, I will add Tiriac to my TRACKER as I think Good to Firm is not ideal for this horse and at big Odds a big run from TICKTYBOO @ 25/1 (to 4th place) who has had a run and who placed off a significantly higher mark over Course and Distance on its second run last season, is one who may be worth a few bob e/w with enhanced places here to 4th .

My clear top pair though are GLENDAWN a Good to Firm ground winner off a mark of 63 who has had a run already on turf, drawn in Stall 2 and looks primed for Tim Easterby and HOVER ON THE WIND who has won at 6 furlongs making all, steps back to this uphill 5 furlongs and who may use that early pace but 6 furlong stamina to lead them a merry dance if they don't go off too fast. This on is bang on its last win mark of 72 and no better than Mulrenan at judging pace (Northern)

BEVERLEY 5.50 - Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 4 furlongs - 12 run - Good to Firm

The top four in the market are MON ETOILE , Arch Legend, who makes Stable debut for Ruth Carr and may just need the run, Remarkable Flight, a 10 furlong winner on the flat for Charles Hills off a mark of 59 and who has placed in a 2 mile Hurdle, who looks a decent chance for Jenny Candlish, and Spring Chorus whose Course and Distance win off a mark of 55 is solid form but whose best runs have all been with cut in the ground.

MON ETOILE, an AW winner at the trip and with a series of decent turf runs looks "win saver" material at 3/1 and I suggest that option.

I am really keen though on one at double figure Odds in BAMBOO BAY, race fit, clearly best suited to Good to Firm, one of the few in the race who is and a pound below its most recent win mark off a lovely low weight. I will be very disappointed if this one desn't place at nice early Odds (RJ)
