Wolverhampton 3.30 - Handicap - Class 5 - 1 mile 1 and 1/2 furlongs - 13 run - Standard
I'm happy to take on Pursuit of Truth and Corundum at the top of the market, both have shown glimmers of potential, but no more than that and look to be short prices for actual form shown. I don't think this trip is far enough for Saxon Land to show best form and Saturn Five, although capable of popping up, has too many mixed messages to dive in at anything other than decent double figure odds.
I will add Raintown to the TRACKER, another who will find this trip on the short side but this looks like a final warm up to me for a bolder bid at further next time and I'll also keep a close eye on Molly Valentine, who remains in the grip of the handicapper, 7lbs above win mark but a Course and Distance winner, I'll be particularly interested if and when they put a decent 5-7 lbs Claimer in the saddle!
That left me with a short list of 3 of the 13 runners and in preference order my 1-2 are LECHUGA LAD who handles the Track, looks to be steadily improving and ready to strike off this sort of mark and WADACRE GRACE, whose price may be inflated by a High Draw, but whose overall form suggests he can win off this sort of mark and races here over this trip can be won by high drawn horses coming with a good run down the middle of the track. He's below the last winning mark too. My 3rd rated if either selection does not run or if you want to chase enhanced places would be ISLAND BANDIT who has his 3rd run back from a break, on a dangerous mark and should be primed no fitness wise. You cannot replace the irreplaceable, as a Tipster but more so for me as a man and a friend, but he would certainly be telling me to get on with it and to try to impart all I have been graciously and selflessly taught. That will be my mission.
I want to add a couple of these into the TRACKER for the coming months as I think that both Evenings Empire and Powerful Hook Head WILL benefit from this run tonight but both have potential to win races like this. Out On Friday and Positive Energy both have realistic chances and it came down to a short list of 4 of the 14 declared and 3 reserves, which I have found tough to split.
I will reluctantly leave out Spanish John @ 11/1, a nice winner last time, upped 9lbs and whilst he has been competitive off marks above 60 before (61 here, I do just feel he grabbed a golden chance last time and may not be repeating it here).
My top 2 rated are PREPARATIONS who is in solid form and the one i think they all have to beat and THE MEDIATOR, for Gordon Elliott who should come on markedly for a recent return and who is well handicapped on 2024 Flat form and in the TRACKER . He is narrowly preferred to DESERT FRIEND another one in solid recent form. (MG)
