Roscommon 5.20 Handicap (Flat) 1 mile 4 furlongs - 16 run - Soft > Yielding
A race that seems to lack great depth although there are a few very unexposed types at big odds. Of those I am keen to TRACK Status Green who should improve for a recent return run although I think this one will be better judged over 10 or 11 furlongs.
At the top of the market, KIng Of The Bronx now with Gavin Cromwell was a 200/1 winner for previous connections but is another i have trip concerns about, the same applies to Boomerang Bill and whilst Imperial Miss has proven stamina, slow starts have been a problem and it can pay to race handily here round the sharp turns.
Of more interest but ultimately just missing out is Paradise lost, a 46 days break and the addition of cheek-pieces with some solid form left this one as my 4th rated but a nice reserve should we have a non runner.
My main pair though are BEAUTIFUL CHAOS who is already in the Tracker and who ran very well when runner up over this sort of trip last time out, a 10 lbs Claimer rides again and I'll be disappointed if he's not in the first 2 once again. ENQUIRE WITHIN has had a solid season and is usually thereabouts this looks like a minimum trip now on the Flat but a prominent running style should mean he's in contention when it matters most.
IF you want a third option with plenty of enhanced place odds and some reserves if early enough non runners, then my clear 3rd rated is BAYOU BELLE who comes fit form a decent NH summer season and whilst not a regular on the Flat a repeat of a good runner up effort at Killarney last summer would make it very competitive here with proven race fitness an added plus.
