Uttoxeter - Sunday 27th June

By National Hunt UK (Robin T)

Uttoxeter 3.00 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 2 - 2 miles 7 1/2 furlongs - Good - 15 run.

A competitive field but I'm most keen on proven form at the trip, some Course experience is preferable and an eye out on the Going as I'm not sure it'll suit the real firmer than Good summer types.

I narrowed my selections down to a short list of 4 and left ASK HENRY out purely on concerns about stamina and a poor effort on it's only visit here in the past. I'm not convinced of the value of Sebastopol at this trip nor Kloud Gate for the same reason either, at the head of the market.

My 2 strongest fancies are STARSKY from the Skelton yard who gets an 8lbs hike for an impressive run over 3 miles and 3 furlongs last time but looks to have the scope of a potential improver and ticks every box for me. The same can be said of SOUTH TERRACE runner up but did nothing wrong in terms of being very genuine on the last 2 runs, a repeat of that would see him bang in contention here.

At the bottom end of the market at a big price and if the rains do come I can see a bold run coming from JUSTATENNER off a nice mark, ideal trip and I'll have him in a Tricast and a few shrapnel quid on his too and an ideal reserve if one of the picks is a non runner.

Tip - STARSKY + Tracker SOUTH TERRACE (Tricast / Shrapnel) - Justatenner

UTTOXETER 3.35 Summer Cup Handicap - Class 1 - 3 miles 2 furlongs - 16 run - Good

Another competitive field and the same course and stamina criteria to the fore in my analysis and thinking.

A short list again of 4 and again I can leave the 2 market leaders with concerns over the trip for Locks Corner and over the rising mark for the quickly improving Landofsmiles.

I reluctantly leave out TALKISCHEAP it's destined to win one of these types of races but has been disappointed before when we've proclaimed that, I'll have to take it on the chin if it does and I had 3 clearly ahead of it on my Ratings.

I most like SOLOMON GREY another from the Skelton yard a Course winner and my only slight niggle is the trip, on faster ground and an all out gallop though I'd have had more concerns and I think they'll cover the horse up off the bridle for a circuit and then slowly come in to contention and I think the one they all have to beat.

MINELLACELEBRATION won this last year arriving late with a wet sail and off just 3 lbs higher and a few impressive runs since but now off a reducing mark it's not hard to assume this race has been a plan since 365 days ago and no reason to think it doesn't have an excellent chance once again.

Another race where I have a sneaking suspicion for one at the bottom of the market at a big price and this time it's CHILDWELL who is on a nice mark and the proven stamina could see it pass many down the home straight if it can stay attached to the field and in contention.

Tip - SOLOMON GREY + Tracker - MINELLACELEBRATION (Tricast / Shrapnel) - Childswell
