Goodwood 1.50

By National Hunt UK (Robin T)

- Goodwood 1.50 Handicap - Class 2 - 2 miles 4 and 1/2 furlongs

A typically competitive Flat marathon and we can look at those who I've just left out of the investments today.

At the top end of the market I think CALLING THE WIND is the one they all have to beat and is very backable at the price and cannot be ignored. Tronador looks laid out by Elliott but I'm not overly keen (although Michael is and Sean isn't if that's a further clue). Typewriter may not enjoy the Going and the admiral Robert Johnson is upped in Class and in trip. Vino Vitrix hasn't fired yet this season and I don't think the deluge on Wednesday did it any favours here. I'd have stamina concerns about Aggagio and whilst Emiyn should ensure a pace angle I don't see it figuring at the business end and both Temporize and especially Mostly Sunny may be ones for next year and the future.

At bigger odds I would not be surprised to see Land Of Winter outrun odds of about 25/1 although it's upped in grade and it's always hard to totally rule out THE GRAND VISR who would be my "reserve" if any of the following tips are non-runners.

I'm particularly keen on CALLING THE WIND as already mentioned and I also really like the chances of LAW OF THE SEA who is an increasingly promising 5 year old stayer whose time looks near to me and TRITONIC a horse with a touch of class who travels well and on whom I'd expect a tactical ride from Rossa Ryan following the likes of Emiyn at the front end and trying to make a break as they round the turn in on some of the fresh ground. If there is one at big odds for a shrapnel bet it would definitely be PRINCE IMPERIAL whose Royal Ascot run can be marked up as it completely missed the break and it's shown enough at trips just shy of this to suggest it can pick up a place here IF it breaks anything like on level terms.

TIPS (1) Calling The Wind / (2) Law Of The Sea / (3) Trictonic - (4) Prince Imperial (reserve - The Grand Visr)
