Ffos Llas 2.08

Ffos Llas 2.08 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 3 miles - 17 run - Going - Good to Soft (likely to be softer than that!)

Not often we get such a big and competitive field here and it's a tricky puzzle.

I want to take on Buck Bravo and Cavaciano at these prices. Another Frontier is an obvious danger and starting point for Twiston-Davies team whose form so far has been less impressive than usual at the time of year. It has won off a break but usually throws in a few sloppy jumps and not sure it's fantastic value but one I fear.

Memphis Belle too is a clear danger, won last time, up 8lbs but this is new territory stamina wise and it's a long old trek down those straights especially turning in. Ring Minella interested mt at big odds but would be much happier of Good Going.

So, 1/2 point each way on COLLINGWOOD COURT who fell last time out when starting to run on. A 3 mile P2P winner, ideal trip and Going no problem and a strict form interpretation through that minor grade P2P win with one who is now with Lucinda Russell indicates that this is a mark that should be about right an exploitable upped in trip.

At the bottom of the market LAYERTHORPE is a horse who knows how to win, at the trip and on this type of ground. A treble no less off marks of 83-88-92 a while back. Nothing in recent runs but had 3 so should have NO fitness concerns and back of a mark of 93 so getting back to "win range". It's clearly got a bit to prove but the booking of James Bowen catches the eye and has won on soft. I think it'll be all about getting the horse settled, in to a rhythm and as deep in to the race as possible and let the horse enjoy racing again.
