ROBIN - Bangor On Dee - 4.05 Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 7 furlongs - 10 run - Soft
The top of the markets sees an Irish raider who is running off a mark of 22lbs more than a recent Irish win over shorter and having chatted to Michael about it, I'm happy to take his feedback and to oppose the Margaret Mullins trained Morricone. Olivers Travels is a horse with a 3 mile P2P background who is upped significantly from the 2 miles it has been winning at under Rules for the Bowens and having looked at the P2P form, is another I will take on at the early price. Classic Concorde arrives on a treble after a couple of nice wins at Worcester but is up to a mark over 100 and I think may struggle to achieve the treble in this company.
Kings Threshold was very impressive at Exeter earlier in the season and is one to follow (added to TRACKER) but may just need this run. Halifax is a Course and Distance winner and will be a strong contender but sticky soft ground would be a major concern for me here. At big Odds is Burbank and that is one who loves to run prominently, if it does establish an early lead on to back possibly "in running".
There are 2 though that really catch my eye, BALLYCAMUS from the very much in form Twiston-Davies Yard, Nigel has been joined unofficially by Willy in the Training of the horses and Sam is riding them as well as ever, if you ignore the last run and look at the win at Newbury off a mark of 107 over 3 miles in soft conditions then the mark of 113 here actually looks very reasonable. At bigger Odds PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL has its first run for Mark Walford having been sold by the Ellison yard. This is much more the best trip I feel and I'm not sure why he hasn't run more at the trip, and 116 looks a decent mark to begin to pay its way for new connections.
Tips (1) Ballycamus / (2) Punxsutawney Phil
