Handicap Hurdle 3 miles 14 run on soft to yielding Going.
A tricky 14 runner puzzle and the short list was not that short, being half the field!
Ballea Fox is one to watch after a break of 556 days, certainly one to track in similar races after a couple of runs if the old ability remains. My Lovely Boy and Whydah will be dangers but the Going and Trip respectively rule them out of my plans for today.
Flooring Porter is the favourite but a fair bit to prove over this trip and at about 4/1 I am happy to take it on and would take a win for the horse on the chin. WHEREYOUNOW has won over the Course and at the Distance (not thought CD) could be that the handicap mark is a bit too high and and the Going may be a bit too much on the soft side, may be best in a Tricast Perm.
So I will have a TIP and a Tracker bet. The TIP is NAPOLEON BLUE trip could be ideal based on a 3 miles P2P win in similar underfoot conditions, hasn't been stopping over shorter under Rules and with Blinkers applied looks like they are giving the horse real optimum conditions and best chance of a win. The biggest danger I think and TRACKER tip is DOLDILDO who despite top weight looks well handicapped on basis of a nice 3rd place over Course and Distance off a mark of 106 and the horse has form on soft Going.
