Royal Ascot 3.40
By Irish Racing (Sean aka Placespotter)
Ascot 3.40 King Stand Stakes - 5 furlongs - Group 1 - 16 Run - Good to Firm
The obvious starting point here is BATTASH who at peak would be close to Odds On, some considerable concerns though about the preparation and a few of these are good enough to capitalise if Battash arrives anything less than 95% ready.
The Tim Eastberby trained Winter Power has impressed everyone but this is a step up, in to unknown territory in many ways and at the price I want to take the horse on.
Kings Lynn, a royal runner will have huge support and looks a promising type who could be given a good tow in to the race from a high draw. I fear that one a lot.
LIBERTY BEACH was 3rd in this last year, ran a bit freely but within 2 lengths of Battash, a repeat of that run would take him very close, he's returned in fine form and clearly has very solid each way claims. The same could very much be said about OXTED who drops down from 6 furlongs, will need in running but that proven bit of stamina will help and tactically could get a lovely tow into the race. I'll put my main stake money on those as a tip and tracker respectively.
If you want one to outrun Odds at a big price then I think it could be ARECIBO, not really this Class but I don't think it's a great renewal of the race, horse is fit, in form and may be well drawn. It has some Course form and Listed level and Robert Cowell and Jamie Spencer will be eyeing the very generous place money for sure.
TIP -: LIBERTY BEACH; Tracker -: OXTED (Shrapnel Horse -: 1 Arecibo @ 33/1 )
