Punchestown 4.40

SEAN - Punchestown 4.40 - Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 7 and 1/2 furlongs - Going Good - 15 run

I think the pair at the top of the market are way too short. Balkito is much more highly rated over fences and may need this seasonal debut run as it has in the past. Grozni has a win at Navan off a mark of 102 bt then disappointed off 109 out a couple of days later, if that run came too soon it may be seen in a better light again off 109 here but I'm happy to take it on at the price.

Coventry ran in far bigger races for Paul Nolan and has moved to Elliott, it really could be anything and I'd also point out Ballykeel from the same yard who is in the Tracker (see below). That Tracker entry is based on some old P2P form yet to be fulfilled under Rues so probably best to watch both Coventry and Ballykeel today. I do like a quid e/w saver as you know on some bigger priced Elliott types in the 20 + runner fields but not for me today.

Portstorm may need the run on evidence of previous seasons and Punters Poet ran well in a basement level Flat race recently but may struggle at this trip. Glenquin Castle rattled up a 7 timer last season, it won off marks up to 108, should come on from seasonal debut a few weeks ago but whether 117 is beyond it remains to be seen.

I have added both ROBINSTOWN + ROBYNDEGLORY to the Tracker System as of today (see below) ; I think both can pick up small races this season and it will be interesting to see how they fare today. (No investment on either)

Grangeclare Native is one of those tricky types that can slip a field and make all, that's why the P (Pulled up) outweigh the finishes and on decent ground you never know....one always worth £1 e/w in case it does.

I'm most keen though on BONNE DEBUT, Benkei and Paddy Wickla

BONNE DEBUT is a Course and Distance winner off a mark of 94, made a bit of an eye-catching return on seasonal debut and although off a mark of 105 is one I think who is definitely progressive and JJ Slevin takes the ride.

BENKEI had a nice sighter at 3 miles last time and Rachel Blackmore keeps the ride, its very interesting dropped slightly in trip here and form at shorter suggests it could really improve now at this sort of distance. PADDY WICKLA has placed here off marks of 97 and 101 over shorter trips and they are also slowly increasing the distance with this one, there have been indications in the past that it gets 3 miles and well worth a small investment on all of that evidence.

TIP - Bonne Debut / Trackers - Benkei + Paddy Wickla
