Gowran Park 5.02

SEAN - Gowran Park 5.02 Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 4 furlongs - 16 run - Going Good (rain about)

At the top of the market the likes of Sergeant Lightfoot, Jungle Prose and Na Caith Tobac look solid but all are eminently beatable.

Sergeant Lightfoot won over fences last time, coming back to Hurdles with a couple of fairly recent 4th places but one of several who might not enjoy the ground softening too much more. Jungle Prose makes Irish handicap debut for Elliott after a spell running moderately for Nick Gifford in England and Na Caith Tobac is another one who might struggle for stamina if it gets appreciably heavier.

The topically named HURRICANE DARWIN has won its last 2 over the Punchestown Banks and a decent Handicap at Listowel and is the one they all have to beat and a "saver" is recommended .

The likes of the in form Serpolette and Innellan Shore are feared on recent form and potential respectively but again with an eye on the sky, I'd not be wanting to invest if it turns soft. The same applies to Anyonecanhaveitall (who would have been a strong e/w chance on Good Going) and Fulysse (who ran disappointingly yesterday given some form fresh).

The pair that I am increasingly convinced can outrun Odds in the conditions are both at the big price end of the market currently.

FOX FEARLESS ran well in these likely conditions in the past and a 2nd in a big field at Fairyhouse in April catches the eye. Its fit from the Flat and runs off 4 lbs less than that eye-catching Fairyhouse run here. GALI FLIGHT has it's best form on softer ground, the trip holds no fears and with some decent efforts off marks of 104 to 107, today's mark of 103 gives it every chance of being involved.

SHRAPNEL - Fox Fearless + Gali Flight (1/2 point e/w saver on Hurricane Darwin)
