Galway 4.20
By Irish Racing (Sean aka Placespotter)
GALWAY 4.20 7f Handicap - 16 run (3 reserves one to note) - Soft.
A top quality premier Handicap.
Several of these ran in the race on Tuesday where we picked winner Saltonstall and the 3rd and 5th place finishers.
Of those Magnetic North runs again, and will be a live danger but I think better at a mile than at 7 furlongs so I will pass over today although a big danger.
I flagged up ON A SESSION as a danger on Tuesday and that one is I think a better horse at this 7 furlong trip. It runs off a nice mark, will enjoy conditions and drawn in stall 5 has no excuses. Of the ones who have run earlier in the week the one I clearly like the most in today's race.
A few I think are in the grip of the handicapper and for me that just rules out, Big Baby Bull, Lord Rapscallion and favourite Njord who is a whopping 35lbs above the last time it won at this specific trip. The trip is also a niggle for a few who I think are more suited to shorter and I would say this applies to Flaming Moon and Laugh A Minute who are best at 6 or the intermediate 6 and a half furlongs.
I can't leave out a couple to watch very closely and to have a close look at IF backed or in the race - Laughifyouwant won this last year, has run well fresh and could pop up but the fact it hasn't had a run sooner suggests it might need this. Ice Cold iN Alex is one I like a lot, as you will remember, it's first reserve but i have a hunch they may declare a n/r as it's best form is on Good or better Going and they may save for another race in the next week or so.
The Tracker bet is CYRUS DALLIN who could get a nice tow from those drawn high, has excellent form in Soft Going, drawn 16, some see that as a negative but the winner in 2019 came from high draw in similar conditions and this one runs off a competitive mark.
So a lot to consider but basically 2 horses off competitive marks, who don't mind cut and at what I think is their optimum trip.
TIP - ON A SESSION / TRACKER - Cyrus Dallin
