CORK 3.05 Premier Handicap - 5 Furlongs - 14 run

 

A race featuring some rapidly improving types most of who have as a result taken hikes up the handicap and who may now be at some kind of ceiling level.

 

It's not impossible some may still have progress but I am drawn to a pair that may find this a shade easier than recent opportunities.

 

The veteran ARDHOOMEY was winning off a mark almost a stone higher a year ago. Is not the horse it was but will find these far calmer waters and up against many who were running off marks in the 60's and low 70's at the same juncture last season, a levelling out around this mark of 91 indicates that if even 90% of the ability remains, this is a very compelling mark.

 

Placed runs off 90 and 92 in it's first 2 runs of 2020 don't indicate rapid regression and a draw in Stall 8 gives all kinds of tactical options. 

 

My Tracker tip will be MISTER MATT, drawn in Stall 9, a drop to this stiff 5 furlongs may help this sometimes free running sort who can find 6 furlongs just too far. Blinkers will help to restrain and tendencies to go off too fast and the mark of 83 looks just about right with a few solid enough placed runs this season off similar marks in the low 80's.
