Beverley 2.40

PLACESPOTTER - Beverley 3.40 Handicap - Class 5 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 16 run

I'll cut straight to the chase in this competitive little handicap and say I think that BOLLIN TED is cracking each way value here.

A 5 times Course and Distance winner, last 2 runs here have been a runner up off a mark of 63 last September in soft conditions and a win off 58 last June on Good to Firm, so no ground concerns or excuses whatever happens underfoot.

A lowish Draw is an advantage in such a big field as if drawn high you have to use early tactical speed to get a good position. They tend to sort themselves out line abreast 2 by two in to the bottom turn and then race up the hill and luck in running is needed but lowish is best place historically. The Yard (Tim Easterby) also runs an unexposed horse at the trip who may be worth a small nibble (Fox Kasper) but interesting that Ella McCain (daughter of Donald) takes a handy 7lbs off here.

The only real concern is that horse was stone last on seasonal return BUT if you look back, seems to usually need that run and has a couple of times finished out with the washing first time out and been very competitive next time. Definitely one to track too if not obliging on fitness grounds today, a nice mark that they will exploit sooner of later.

TIP - BOLLIN TED - 1 point each way
