Ascot 3.05

By Irish Racing (Sean aka Placespotter)

SEAN - Ascot 3.05 King George V Handicap - Class 2 - 1 mile 4 furlongs.

A race with some scopey types not fully proven at the trip and a few more exposed types who are.

It's very tricky and I looked closely at Post Impressionist and Secret State but at their prices just think that the proven form and the proven stamina of NEWFOUNDLAND is better, I see this as a Leger horse and believe it will just outstay everything close home. I think its biggest rival could be ISRAR who impressed in the London Cup and whose pedigree looks more one of a 12 furlong horse than some of the others.

Yashin and Flying Dolphin for Ireland are both very capable of taking a  hand and were very hard for me to leave out, as was Surrey Mist.

There is one though that I cannot leave out at a massive price and that's ACHNAMARA for Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning. It's not rocket science to envisage this one leading and trying to make it a stamina test, and that should help NEWFOUNDLAND more than any other and if he can slip the field then may be ACHNAMARA can hold on for a place at big odds.

TIP - Newfoundland / Tracker - Israr / shrapnel - Achnamara
