Ascot 1.35

Placespotter - Ascot 1.35 - Sprint 6 Furlongs (17 run)

I really want a horse proven at 7 furlongs in soft/heavy Going or a proven Course performer over the 6 furlongs in soft and heavy and am happy to ignore the market in a race of this type at this time of the season.

That narrows me down to 5 horses and whilst I think ONE MASTER is the one to beat I will have only a small win saver on him to cover more speculative but confident bets.

CAPE BYRON has good Course and Distance form, won't mind conditions but one I see going close rather than winning and one I will include in a few sporting Tricast lines and perms here. LIBRISA BREEZE @ 16/1 is of more interest, a win in this in 2017 under soft conditions, only 1 run in 2019 so far, a plot or a last hurrah, not 100% sure but a very nice handicap mark and worth a smaller Tracker stake on the day.

My pair against the field as tips are SANDS OF MALI who won this last year, runs off a nice mark gets ideal conditions again and I think Fahey will have seen this as a target since last years win. DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT, the Racing Post says "not good enough" under normal conditions probably not but mud is a great leveler and the form of this horse in mud, at Ascot and in the Autumn is very compelling. I am happy to ignore the market and take a contrarian approach with both of my mud loving, Course specialist Autumn types.
